Coley was a lifelong resident of Norco, La and lived at the family home on Marino Dr his entire life. He was a longtime employee of River Parish Oil Co. He was the fourth son of the late E.L. "Whitey" Holmes and the late Mary "Ellie" Holmes. Brother of the late Ernest L. Holmes Jr, and the late Ernest "Putch" Holmes. Survived and missed by brother Matt (Mary), and nephews Taylor and especially Aaron who were both there for him these last few months in his time of most need. Also thanks to family friend Mark Embree who helped and visited Coley during his last difficult days. Other surviving relatives include brothers: Richard (Ann), Jimmy, Will(Terry), Roger(Shawn). Nephew Jason. Nieces: Catherine, Carin and Kristen. Coley also had several grandnieces and a grandnephew. Visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2016 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, 821 Fourth St. Norco, La 70079 starting at 9AM till the prayer service at 11AM. Interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, 13396 River Rd., Destrehan, LA 70047. Although he seemed somewhat eccentric or strange at first glance, Coley was appreciated by those who really got to know him as a caring, compassionate, intelligent, and truly honest human being. Sometimes in life we may try to avoid those we find different, quiet, or not what society would consider normal. Coley lived life the "Coley" way and he was a testament that we should never judge a book by its cover. If the time is taken to turn the pages and dig deeper we may find much more to the person then appears on the surface. To quote someone who took the time to know Coley and maybe this simply describes him best: Coley was a good man!
