Left this world on May 26, 2016 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Born Sunday 28 July 1935 in Gramercy, LA. Resident of Destrehan, LA for 49 years. Presently a resident of Ponchatoula, La. Beloved husband of Carolyn Irma Vedros for 57 years. Son of the late Raoul Joseph Laurent and Beunice Gaeta Cambre. He is survived by his children, Paul Jude Laurent, Suzanne Cheree Laurent Grayson (Steve), and Raoul Joseph Laurent, III (Julie). Grandchildren; Virginia Suzanne Grayson Pansano (Kenny), Scott James Grayson, Dylan Andrew Grayson (Lindsay), Elise Solange Laurent, Logan Raoul Laurent and Cheyenne Renee Laurent and great-grandchild Taylor Lynn Grayson. Preceded in death by son, Rene' Philip Laurent and daughter-in-law Annette Giglio Laurent. Survived by his brother Donald Lee Joseph Laurent (Janet) of DeRidder, LA. He served on active duty with the Navy during the Korean Conflict, and retired from the Naval Reserve with a total of 25 years of service. All ship board duty. Mr. Laurent was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 366 in Destrehan, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 092 in Jefferson Parish, Men of Manresa, Nifty Fifties Plus, German Acadian Genealogical Society, Boy Scout Leader, Eagle Scout, Knights of Columbus, and Employee/retiree of E.I. Dupont. All are invited to attend services. A night wake will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd., Destrehan, LA on Monday, May 30 from 6PM until 9 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 31 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM with Mass at Noon. Burial will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Mausoleum in Destrehan, LA.
