Rita Loupe Matherne, 88, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died on Jan. 
22.

Visitation was held Jan. 29 at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. A funeral 
service followed in the funeral home parlor 

with burial in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Des Allemands.

Matherne is survived by her son, Faron P. Matherne (Wilma Gaudet Matherne); 
sister, Lena Loupe Seller; grandchildren, Nathan Matherne (Megan Chestnut), and 
great-grandchildren, Grady and Arlie Matherne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Joseph Matherne; parents, 
Anicet and Alida Loupe; brothers, Taylor, Lester, Brand, Clarence, Dudley, and 
Lucky Loupe; and grandchild, Aaron Matherne.

She was a true description of a mother who loved her grandchildren.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
