He was born Ocotber 15, 1929 in Hahnville to his parents Charles J. Oubre, Sr. and Felicie Keller Oubre who proceeded him in death. Also proceeded in death by sisters Felicie "Susie" Oubre and Sandra V. Oubre and brother Gerard L. Oubre and his wife Sandy M. Oubre. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Carol Troxler Oubre, children J. Charles III, Cody (Suzette), Conley (Rita), Chet (Chrissy), and Cara A. Oubre, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers Gail (Cathlyn), Roland (Janet), and Bernard (Linda) Oubre. He graduated from Hahnville High School in 1947, then played professional baseball before volunteering to serve in the U.S. Army. Upon receiving his honorable discharge in 1951 he again played professional baseball, upon retiring from baseball in 1955 he was employed by Shell Oil Refinery. In 1963 he began his public service career in St. Charles Parish, first with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Department, then with the St. Charles Parish District Attorney's Office before becoming Clerk of Court of St. Charles Parish where he served from January 1, 1979 until June 30, 2012. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409, VFW Post 3750 and the American Legion Post 131, where he served passionately as blood bank chairman in conjunction with the Ochsner Blood Bank for the past 30 years. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, LA on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 8:30 AM until 11 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Father Bernard Francis will be the celebrant and Father Joel Cantones with be co-celebrant. Graveside Interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft, LA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to OCF- Ochsner Blood Bank Fund in memorial of Charles Oubre- Fund #1601105. "Remember give the gift of life and be a Blood Donor."
