Smith was born in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 28, 1961 and raised in Kay Largo, Fla. While living in Key Largo, he worked as a dive boat captain. He also was a volunteer firefighter and an avid scuba diver. Smith has resided in St. Charles Parish since 2008. After moving to Louisiana, he spent more than 15 years as a tugboat captain on the Mississippi River at Avondale Shipyard and Octopus Towing, and most recently as a captain for Boomtown Casino. He is survived by his only son, Josh; brother, Cecil Jr. (wife, Sylvia); sister, Gayle; nieces, Beth and Amber; nephews, Beau and Ryan; fiancé, Mary (Danielle)’ Mary’s two daughters, Brianna and Marissa that he loved as his own. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Sr. and Dorothy. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Graveside Service on Tuesday, May 17, at 2 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Highway, Metairie, La. ===================
