Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stcharles/photos/obits/2016 and click on the name of interest. ========== A memorial service celebrating the life of Elizabeth "Libby" Simmons Steib will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 3pm at HC Alexander Funeral Home in Norco, LA. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 1pm – 3pm. Burial will be at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. Arrangements will be handled by Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, LA. Libby Steib, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexandria on Monday, July 11, 2016. Mrs. Steib grew up in Laurel, MS and moved to New Orleans, LA to attend Touro Infirmary School of Nursing and graduated in 1953. She loved being a nurse and worked in many different areas of nursing. She especially loved working in the field of psychiatry. After marrying Charles Steib, Jr., they moved to Destrehan, LA and she was a resident there for 57 years. She also lived in Cypress, TX and currently lived in Alexandria, LA. Mrs. Steib loved to sew and used her passion for sewing to be a part of making Quilts of Valor for veterans, Quilts for Kids (for kids in hospitals), and made quilts for many family members. She loved gardening and reading as well. She also loved going to Walt Disney World with family! Mrs. Steib was very faithful in serving the Lord at Bible Center Church of Luling, LA and Autumn Creek Baptist Church of Katy, TX. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and playing bingo on Friday mornings at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, LA. She was always excited to serve during VBS and to work with children in the AWANA program. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles Steib, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jill Steib Walker, Julie' Steib Jones and husband, Steve, Charles Daniel "Danny" Steib, III and wife, Alison, and Courtney Steib. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Namaw" and those left to cherish her memory are Kathryn Eggert and husband, Martin, Barrett, Brooke and Spencer Jones, Ryan and Sam Steib, Sydney Steib Clarke and husband, Cameron, Shelby Steib Sigler and husband, Devin, and Collin Steib including their mother, Cynthia Tate. Great granddaughters are Audrey and Amelia Eggert. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Steib prefers potted plants, or that memorial gifts be given to the church of your choice.
