Bridges Wife of Wiley Williams Born July 9, 1857 (1847) Died May 27, 1909 "Gone but not forgotten" Sacred To The Memory of M.E. Edwards Born March 7, 1825 Died October 19, 1857 Wiley Williams had no marker, M. Eveline B. Williams tall foot marker was removed from her grave And placed at the head of Wiley Williams' grave. In Memory of E.A. Williams Wife of J.J. Lea Born February 23, 1849 Died August 31, 1873 "Thou are gone but not forgotten" Foot marker reads "E.A.W.L." There are numerous other graves in this cemetery but no markers. It is my understanding, particularly so since I have been working on the Wiley Williams family line, that my great great grandparents, Robert Wilson Williams and Harriet C. Moore Williams, are buried at this cemetery. I know our Uncle Willie E. Williams and Aunt Maggie S. Williams have one child buried there. The date on my grandmother Eveline Williams is definitely wrong, as I have Bible records, census records and other information that states and proves Eveline was born July 9, 1847, instead of 1857, as on her marker. This was just an error, and a very bad one too. I have not said anything to any one about this, because no good would come of it, only hard feelings perhaps. I sent or gave you a Wiley Williams Bible sheet, didn't I? If not I will do so and you can see I am right about her birth date. Jr., his wife Hazel and myself removed the tall foot marker and placed it at Wiley's grave. I do not have any idea who M.E. Edwards is, and have not been able to find any information whatsoever on him. E.A. Williams is Emily Adaline Williams, sister to Wiley, and wife of Jesse J. Lee, some of your relatives I'm sure, just who or how related I don't know but am sure you do. Always, Edyce 1 March 1972 ************************************************ File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/sthelena/cemeteries/williams.txt
