BUDDY HAMPTON
1975 - 1979

     I came to New Zion as pastor, in the summer of 1974.  My
good friend Steve Brown, who was pastor at New Zion before me,
probably had something to do with my name being brought before
the Church.  I wanted to go to school in New Orleans and you
folks didn't mind having a pastor who also attended Seminary.  I
suppose you all have helped many such preachers over the years.
I, for one, want to thank you for allowing me to be your pastor
and get an education at the same time.

     There were many wonderful blessings for Sharon and I during
our time on the field there.  Our daughter Jana was born during
those days, and Chad grew from a baby to childhood.  We had the
priviledge of serving with our dear friends, Sammy and Lucy Craw-
ford for much of that time, and saw the Lord move in many ways
in our lives and the lives of the people in and around the Church
and community.  We will never forget or regret the years we were
there at the New Zion Baptist Church.  I am proud to be able to
say that I once served as its' pastor.
