DEACONS JAMES W. HARRELL James (Jimmy) Harrell has served faithfully as a deacon since moving his church membership back to New Zion in 1984. He made a profession of faith at New Zion as a young man while visiting the church in 1970. Jimmy was ordained at Denham Springs, Louisiana. He has worked as R.A. and Youth Leader for many years. Jimmy "fills the pulpit" when asked by the Pastor to supply. His wife, the former Dora Lemoine, works with the Young at Heart, a senior adult group. A retired detective with Louisiana State Police, he worked several years with the Tri-Parish Task Force which included St. Helena, Tangipahoa, and Livingston parishes. JOSEPH R. ALLEN Joe Allen moved into this community when he married Alma Smith in June, 1970. He began attending New Zion and made a pro- fession of faith in August, 1971. He was subsequently ordained as a deacon at New Zion in 1978. Joe is a willing worker, having taught Sunday School, served as a leader in Church Training and with the boys' missions groups on Wednesday nights. He has spoken from the pulpit in the pastor's absence. Joe works as a Forest Technician with International Paper Company. Joe and Alma, church pianist since 1969, are the parents of Michael Royce Allen, Jason E. Allen, and Angela M. Allen Duck, married to Chris Duck. LIGE TRAVIS, SR. Lige Travis, Sr. has been a dedicated Christian here at New Zion since he made a profession of faith at age 17 and was ordain- ed a deacon in 1962. He has served as Treasurer as well as to serve in any capacity when asked by the pastor. He is married to Marguerite Yarborough who accepted Christ at age twelve and came to New Zion when Bro. Roberts was pastor and was baptized. Mar- guerite is presently teaching a Senior Adult Ladies class, having taught many other age groups. Lige and Marguerite have four children: Tommy Travis, Patsy Brumfield, Janet Alessi and Lige Travis, Jr. Their grandchildren are the highlight of their life. Lige is a retired dairy farmer and Marguerite is a retired librarian. DONALD DUNCAN Donald Duncan grew up in this community and made a profes- sion of faith at New Zion in 1956. He has remained a faithful member of this church since that time. He was ordained as a dea- con in 1976. Donald has served as Sunday School Superintendent many times and is presently serving in that capacity. He is the person called on to cook for many of our fellowships. Donald is married to Jane Burch and they are the parents of three daughters: Mrs. Dana Dugas, Mrs. Donna McShan and Mrs. Denise Hansen. They have four grandchildren that are a delight to Donald and Jane. Jane has been a Sunday School teacher for many years. Donald has been a dairy farmer for a number of years and Jane is a real help. *****
