Lamberth married Martha M. Furlow on 12/16/1857 in St. Helena Parish. The 1880 census for St. Helena shows John Lamberth is 39, a farmer born in Louisiana, wife Martha M. is 32; Wallerston, son is 13; St. Elmo, son is 11; Edna Earl, daughter is 9; Archie, son is 1 and Mary A., his mother is 67. John Lam- berth - Pvt., Co. E, 3rd Cavalry, Rolls of prisoners of war, paroled Gainesville, Alabama, May 12, 1865. Lamberth is buried in the Lam- berth Cemetery. (Jen. 18, 1841 - Jan. 20, 1881) FRANCIS M. VARNADO F.M. Varnado married Clarinda McMabon 11/8/1866 in St. Helena Parish. The 1870 census of St. Helena lists a Frank Varnadare (sic) 30-year-old farm hand with wife Lucritia, 20 years old and Janey, 1 year old. JOHN W. POWELL J.W. Powell married M.J. Woodward on 9/16/1865 in St. Helena Parish. The 1880 census for St. Helena, household 227, John W. Powell, 35, farmer; wife Mary J., 34; Lizzie, 8. The 1900 census is household 286, John W. Powell, born Oct. 1842; 57 years old, married 35 years, preaching, farming, owns farm. Wife Mary born Jan. 1846, 54 years old, other of one. J.W. Powell, Corp., Co. E, 3rd (Wingfield's) La. Cav., enlisted May 25, 1861, Camp Moore, La. Paroled at Gainesville, Alamba, May 12, 1865. Residence St. Helena Parish. Rev. J.W. Powell, a Mason, born Oct. 2, 1842, died Dec. 19, 1914 and wife Mary J. Powell, born Jan. 10, 1846, died June 27, 1914. Both buried in Strickland-Powell Cemetery. EPHRIAM W. BATES The 1880 census for St. Helena Parish lists Ephriam Bates, 62 year old farmer with daughter Elizabeth, 35 and grandchildren, David, 14 and Mary, 3. JOHN J. BRIDGES John J. Bridges married (1) Martha Ann Day on 5/3/1843 and married (2) Mary Birch on 3/7/1876. Both in St. Helena Parish. The 1860 census: J.J. Bridges, farmer, 41; owns real estate, $2500 and personal property of $7750; Martha, 3; Martha, 9; John, 7; Julius, 3. The 1870 census: John Bridges, 53, farmer, real es- tate, $2000, personal property, $500; wife Martha, 48; John, 16; Wil- son, 12; Alcena, 10; Nathan (Nefus), 5. 1880 census: John J. Bridges, 61, farmer; Mary, wife, 23; Nefus, son, 15 (at school) and Emaline, daughter, 3. John J. Bridges (Sept. 7, 1818 - Nov. 10, 1894) is buried in Jackson Family Cemetery. NICOLAS M. BAZOON Nicolas Bazoon is 9 in Household 142 in 1860 census with Issac Bazoon, farmer with real estate of $500 and personal property, $400, also Ellender, 35, Winnifred, 7, and Jessie, 2. HENRY BOND Henry Bond is household 197 of 1860 census, 44 year old far- mer born in Mississippi with Symantia, 43; Theodore, 23; with $600 personal property; Ambrose, 18; Huston, 13; Mary, 12 and Preston, 7. The 1870 census; Henry Bond, 57, with real estate of $500, personal property, $800; Cimanthy, 52; Mary, 20 and Preston, 17. 1880 census: Henry Bond, 67 years old, farmer whose parents were both born in S.C.; Samantha, 62 year old wife, born in Miss. and both parents in S.C. Henry Bond (Sept. 8, 1812 - July 29, 1895) and wife Samantha Dickerson (wife of Henry Bond) April 10, 1817 - June 22, 1902, both buried in Bond-Needham Cemetery. GRANT R. TAYLOR Grant R. Taylor served as Church Clerk from 1880 to 1902. In 1870 census, Grant Taylor is in Household 5, a 25 year old farmer. He owns real estate of $500, personal property of $500. Carrie is 22 and Luticia, 9 1/2. In 1880 census: Household 120, Grant R. Taylor, age 33, wife Caroline, 32, children Ella, 9; Florence, 6; Elizabeth, 3 and Mary Jane, 2. 1900 census: Grant R. Taylor, 54 year old farmer who has been married to Caroline 35 years. She was born November, 1846, and he, Dec., 1845. Mother of five children, 4 living. Grant R. Taylor (Mason) born Dec. 6, 1845, died Oct. 15, 1910, and Caroline H. Strickland, wife of Grant R. Taylor, born Nov. 10, 1846, died May 6, 1932. Both are buried in Taylor Cemetery. E.W.
