All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ State of Louisiana Parish of St. Helena Sale of land from John Harper & John Satoon 29 Oct 1830 Be it remembered that on this sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-two, before me, Burlin Childress, Parish Judge & ex oficio notary public in and for said parish, personally came John Sattoon of said parish & presented the following instrument of writing requesting the same to be admitted of record in the words & figures following to wit: This bargain and sale made and entered into between John Harper of the one part, and John Satoon of the other part, witnesseth that John Harper of the first mentioned part hath and by these presents doth bargain, sell, ... and ... with John Settoon, his heirs and assigns forever for and in consideration of the sum hereinafter named, one fourth part of an undivided? tract of land situated on Joseph Branch in the state and parish aforesaid & adjoined lands ... now of William Kendrick on the east & on the west by land belonging to heirs of John Satoon, deceased, Known by the name of Strickland? tract. To have and to hold, the said portion of land unto the said John Satoon, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns for ever, and the said John Harper doth hereby acknowledge to have received from the said John Satoon Two hundred Dollars as full compensation for the above described premises and doth warrant and defend the same to the said John Satoon, his heirs and assigns forever.
