     A concerted effort has been made to list all the families
who live or did live in Montpelier.  We regret if anyone has been
omitted.  Only those who lived in Montpelier are listed.  For
example, if a couple had several children and only one remained
in Montpelier after marrying, then only that individual, his/her
spouse and children are listed.  We did not list the families or
those who left Montpelier to live elsewhere.

     Some abbreviations are used: married - md; children - chn.

     Inez Tate conducted the majority of the interviews.  Much
information pertaining to the families was recorded from the per-
sonal knowledge of Edward and Inez Tate.
