Approximately 500 people gathered at Bear Creek on Sept. 24, 1980 when Mrs. Lillian Carter, mother of President Jimmy Carter, visited. She was "stumping" for her son who was campaigning for re-election. She was presented with a key to the city by Mayor Bryan Dykes. The affair was a bar-be-que fund raiser. Miss Lillian "dedicated" the mechanical bull and was pre- sented a cowboy hat. *************
