Compiled and edited by Inez Bridges Tate and reprinted with permission. WILBUR G. MILLER June 11, 1922 - October 20, 1944 Wilbur G. Miller was born on June 11, 1922 in the Hillsdale Community. Wilbur grew up there and attended Woodland School and as guys in St. Helena Parish did, he worked on his parents' farm while attending school. He was the son of Merrick D. and Evie Miller. Wilbur was in the Army, serving in the 47th Infantry, 9th Division. He was a glider pilot. The glider crashed and Wilbur was killed on October 20, 1944. Wilbur had married and his wife was expecting their first child when he died. Wilbur is buried in the Hillsdale Baptist Church Cemetery. From his marker: "Wilbur G. Miller, Louisiana, Pvt. 47 Infty, 9 Div. WW II, June 11, 1922, October 20, 1944." Information provided by Charles A Miller, brother. * * * * *
