Lidsey, 82 Prominent St. Helena Pioneer Figure Dies Widely known St. Helena resident died Thursday night, February 3, 1955 at 9:40 at Clinton Infirmary after an illness of two weeks. Death was attributed to a heart attack which he suffered two weeks ago. A former Sheriff of St. Helena Parish, Lindsey was 82 years old. (Photo of Hollis Womack Lindsey, Sr.) A native of Greensburg, he had spent his entire life here. He was the son of Capt. T. D. and Nannie Womack Lindsey of St. Helena parish. A farmer and cattleman, he was active in civic affairs in Greensburg. Lindsey was a member of the St. Helena Masonic Lodge and the Greensburg Methodist church. He served for 12 years as director of the Bank of Greensburg. He was educated at the famed Norville Institute in Greensburg. He was married 60 years ago to the former Margaret Minerva Thompson, who survives him. The two marked their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 2nd of this year. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 5, 1955, at 10:00 a.m. from the Greensburg Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Hine, pastor, assisted by Rev. Pat Lane and Philip Woodland. Interment took place in the Greensburg Cemetery. Mr. C. J. Bonnecarre conducted the Masonic rites at the graveside. Rev. Pat Lane acted as chaplin. Pallbearers were: Charles Cole, Jr., Edgar Lea Morgan, John Hanks, John D. Alford, Webb Bellue and J. D. McKinney. Honorary pallbearers were J. W. Cole, Charles J. Cole, Sr., Joe M. In addition to his widow, Lindsey is survived by four sons: Tom C. Lindsey of Greensburg, Jim and Hollis W. Lindsey Jr., both of Baton Rouge, and Jules Lindsey of Louisville, Ky.; four daughters: Mrs. N. J. Stafford of Franklinton, Mrs. W. S. Dyson of Baton Rouge, Mrs. John Laird of Baker and Mrs. Doris Lindsey Holland of Greensburg, a former state representative and editor of the St. Helna Echo; a sister, Mrs. J. E.
