WALTER T. THOMPSON JR. died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 1979,
at St. Helena Parish Hospital, Greensburg.  He was 76, a native
and resident of Hillsdale.  He was retired from Louisiana State
Department of Highways and a retired dairy farmer.  Religious
services were held Tuesday at Kedron Baptist Church.  Burial in
Roberts Cemetery.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Rita Phillips Thompson, Hillsdale; two
daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ramona) Powers, Grangeville, and Mrs. Glen
(Dolores) Cox, Denham Springs, a son, Walter "Buster" Thompson
III; and five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 
Preceded in death by a grandson, Peavy Powers; a brother Johnny
R. Thompson, Hilldale; and a sister, Mrs. Nenie Henkel, Hammond. 
He was a member of Kedron Baptist Church.
