To J. R. Salisbury Judge in and for the Parish of Saint Helena and the State
of Louisiana.

The petition of Asa W. Kinchen respectfully represents that he hath entered
into the Civil Contract of Marriage with Naomi Lanier, Daughter of John
Lanier.  [Naomi looks like: Theoma in the records]

That he hath obtained the free consent of said Noami and the voluntary consent
of her said father.  Your petitioner therefore prays that a license may issue
authorizing marriage to the cellibrated in all forms of law between your
petitioner and said Naomi and you petition witness pray this 16th. October
1820.

Asa W. Kinchen on oath saith that all the matters and facts contained in the
above petition are substantually true he swore and subscribed to before me
16th day of October 1820.
