G. Melton and Martha F. Parker both residents of the Parish aforesaid at the residence of Martha L. Taylor in the said Parish personally appeared before me Lewis H. Young one of the Justices of the Peace in __(?)__ for the Parish of St. Helena together with H. E. Williams, M. C. Williams and W. G. Webb, all witness of full age and residing in said parish, and that them and these the said W. G. Melton and Martha F. Parker having produced the license required by Law, signifies their desire and intentions before me the said Justice and witness to united in the Estate of Matrimony, whereupon after due proclamation made and no impediment being suggested, they the said W. G. Melton and Martha F. Parker were by me the said Justice in the presence of said witnesses, joined in wedlock according to the laws of the State of Louisiana, and duly pronounced to be husband and wife, In testimony whereof the parties to the said marriage hereunto, affix their signature together with me the said Justice, and the aforesaid witnesses on this 16th day of August A.D. 1861 at the residence of Mrs. Martha L. Young 2 ward Justice of the Peace ( or I am ) Also would like to say that my G-G-Grandfather enlisted at Camp Moore on April 10 1862 at the age of 17 1/2 years of age. He served with Co. H 27th Regiment Louisiana Infantry. From my understanding he was a resident of St. Helena Parish at the time of his enlistment ( source: The Guide to Louisiana Confederate Military Units).
