All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ SAMUEL COBB Whereas it has been made known to the legislature by several respectable persons, that Jacob Cobb and an indian woman of the Choctaw tribe, always lived and cohabited as husband and wife, during the life of the said indian, and that the said Jacob Cobb had with the said woman a child named Samuel Cobb; and whereas those kind of marriages amongst the indians are not contracted in writing; BE IT ENACTED ... that Jacob Cobb of the parish of St. Helena, in this state .. he is hereby authorised to make, either by last testament or by act... a donation of any part of his property ... to Samuel Cobb, the off-spring of the above sonnexion; and that the said Samuel Cobb shall ... hereby authorised to accept of ...
