The death warrants have been signed by Acting Governor McEnery. Morehouse Clarion September 10, 1880 -- Page 2, Column 5 New Orleans, Sep. 3 – Villliere Powell, age 19, and Achille Thomas, age 23, both colored were hanged in front of the Court-house, St. James parish, in the presence of three hundred spectators, for the murder of Theodore Gaudet, store-keeper at Longview, on the 20th of May last.
