GENDRON
LAPLACE - Sarah Rollo Gendron, 60, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Nov. 28. She was the
wife of Robert J. Gendron Jr. and mother of Darlene Keyser, Robin Vicknair, Gaylyn Adams and
Bryan Gendron.
She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie Milioto Rollo and sister of Vincent
Rollo.
She is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 1 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter
Cemetery, Reserve.

HINKLE
NORCO - Clifford J. Hinkle, 86, a native of Corning, Ark., and resident ofNew Sarpy for 46
years, died Nov. 30. He was the husband of the lateRosemary Poche Hinkle and father of Patricia
Chiasson, Susan Cabibi, Kathleen Pellegrine and Clifford II and the late Carolyn Hinkle.
He was also the son of the late Louis Nelly and Willie Hinkle.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at First Baptist Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles
Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan. Visitation starts at 9:30a.m.

JACOB
RESERVE - Mabel Daigle Jacob, 88, a native of Belle Rose and resident of Reserve, died Nov. 29.
She was the wife of the late Stanislaus Jacob and mother of Mary Babcock, Janice Tassin and
Darrel and Marius Jacob Sr.
She was also the daughter of the late Leonard and Valerie Mollere Daigle and sister of Leota
Hymel, Delma Maurin, Valerie Freeman and Wilson Daigle.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the
church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

JONES
BOUTTE - Janice Griffin Jones, 48, a native of Boutte and resident of Melbourne, Fla., died
Nov. 23. She was the mother of Michelle and Kelvin Jones.
She was also the daughter of Leona Groden Griffin and sister of Joyce Brown, Patricia Johnson,
Valerie Robertson and Clarence Griffin Jr.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at the church
cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

LAQUE
LULING - Marie C. Laque, a resident of Luling, died Nov. 28. She was the wife of the late
Vernon V. Laque.She was also the daughter of the late Leon and Mary Welmer Chiasson and sister
of Alice Palmisano, Pearl Verda, Alma Dasch, Helen Rome, Rose Mary Chiasson, Betty Hymel,
Bernice Oubre and the late Pauline, Arthur and Leon Chiasson.
Services were Nov. 30 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling.

POCHE
PAULINA - Barry Anthony Poche, 47, a native of Lutcher and resident of Paulina, died Nov. 28.
He was the father of Brandy, Brandon and Jason Poche and fiance‚ of Kitty Tramonte Louque.
He was also the son of Eunice Louque Poche and the late Marvin A. Poche and brother of Stacy
Roussel and Randy, Kenny and Marty Poche.
He was a training coordinator at Motiva Enterprises, Convent, with 22 years of service, and
also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Services were Dec. 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina,
with interment at the church mausoleum.

ROUSSEAU
ST. JAMES - Roger Joan Rousseau, 61, a native of Paincourtville and resident of St. James, died
Nov. 30. He was the husband of Gertrude Falgoust Rousseau and father of Lynette Martinez and
Kevin Rousseau.
He was also the son of the late Roy and Agnes Blanchard Rousseau and brother of Eveline
Alleman, Agnes Hymel and Stephen, Eric, Irwin, Roy and the late Adele Rousseau.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was an employee of St. James Sugar Co-Op.Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic
Church, St. James,with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

ROUSSEL
CONVENT - Vivian St. Pierre "Ket" Roussel, 80, a native of Paulina andresident of Convent, died
Nov. 30. She was the wife of the late Melvin J.Roussel and mother of Diane Kinler and Gaskin
"Jimmy" and Wayne Roussel.
She was also the daughter of the late Gaskin and Eleanor St. Cyr St. Pierre and sister of the
late Henry Vicknair Jr.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,Convent, with
interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8a.m.

SCOTT
CONVENT - Elouise Smith, 80, a native of Welcome and resident of Convent, died Nov. 23. She was
the mother of Luberda Hawkins, Shirley Peters and Eula, Brenda, Barbara, Herbert, Junious,
Norman, Freeman, Melvin and Raymond Smith.
She was also the sister of Enola Shield, Albertha Blair, Catherine Porter and Melvin Sr., Elder
Clarence, the Rev. Willie, Charlie and Freddie Winfield.
She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
She is also survived by two great-aunts, Rose Douglas and Leona Smith.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Jeremiah Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. James
United Methodist Church Cemetery.

SMITH
METAIRIE - Irene Keller Smith, 78, a native of Vacherie and resident of Metairie, died Nov. 24.
She was the mother of Katherine Miller and Tina LaBeauf.
She was also the sister of Lois Bellone and Dorothy Lamantia.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There were no services.

WILLIAMS
LAPLACE - Dorothy Breaux Williams, 69, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Nov. 25. She was
the wife of the late Rev. Haskel Williams and foster mother of Earnest Rogers and the late
Leonard Breaux.
She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Dedmond Breaux and sister of Alma
Fuller, Thelma Francis, Mable Taylor, Irene, Louise, Junius and Herman Breaux and the late
Emeria Williams and Laurence and Eugene Breaux.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, withinterment at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Napoleonville. Visitation starts at 8:30a.m.

LAPLACE - Carol Elaine Vicknair deBautte, 83, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace for
22 years, died Dec. 2. She was the wife of the late Delton deBautte and mother of Tanya Roma,
Sharon Schultz and Carmen Feola.
She was also the daughter of the late Jean Louis and Marie L. Keller Vicknairand sister of
Carmen Klibert, Lazina Guidry, Alice Schultz, Lois Saucier, Marius "Buddy" Vicknair and the
late Rose Madere and J.L. Vicknair. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 4 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at
St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

GUIDRY
NORCO - Craig John Guidry, 36, a native of Jefferson and resident of Destrehan, died Dec. 3. He
was the husband of Julie Guidry and father of Justin David Guidry.
He was also the son of Gary and Letty V. Guidry and brother of AliciaWindstein.
He is also survived by his grandparents Ruth Vicari and Delmo Guidry. He was preceded in death
by grandparents Anthony Vicari Sr. and Roy J. Guidry. Services are today at 8 p.m. in the
chapel of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco. Visitation starts at 6 p.m.

LEBLANC
NEW ORLEANS - Mattie Monson LeBlanc, 83, a native of White Castle and resident of Lutcher for
20 years, died Dec. 3. She was the wife of the lateArthur C. LeBlanc and mother of Marie Dimm.
She was also the sister of Gertrude and Leonard Monson.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 5 in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, New Orleans, with
interment at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1.

MATHEWS
METAIRIE - Gladys Elizabeth Mathews, 98, a native of Paradis and resident of Metairie for 59
years, died Dec. 2. She was the former wife of the late Harry S. Mathews Sr. and mother of the
late Harry Jr. and Warren Mathews. She was the daughter of the late John and Marie Peppercorn
Pitre and sister of the Mae Larre and the late Edna Jordan and Alma, Elma, Leola, John, Urban
and Merline Pitre.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 4 in the chapel of L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Metairie, with
interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

PONTIFF
NEW ORLEANS - Marie Louise Williams Pontiff, 72, a native of Reserve and resident of Arabi,
died Nov. 30. She was the wife of the late George A. Pontiff and mother of Carol Sparacio,
Rosie Fitch, Peggy Wood, Louise Willhoft, Nancy Tedesco and Robert, James and Timothy Pontiff.
She was also the daughter of the late Alex and Alice Williams.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 4 in the chapel of St. Bernard Funeral Home, Chalmette, with interment at
St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

TASTET
NORCO - Emile Charleston Tastet, 69, a native and resident of Norco, died Dec. 3. He was the
brother of Olive Landeche, Odile Maggoire, Steven Tastet and the late Mildred Guillot, Shirley
Schexnaydre and Lester, James and Warren Tastet.
He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 31 great-nieces and nephews, and two
great-great-nephews.
Services are today at noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at
St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. Visitation start at 10 a.m.

WILLIAMS
LAPLACE - Dorothy B. Williams, 69, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 2. She was the
sister of Thelma Francis, Alma Fuller, Mable Taylor, Irene, Louise and Herman Breaux and
stepsister of Junius Breaux.
Services were Dec. 2 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Napoleonville.

YOUNG
ST. ROSE - Everleanea T. Young, 62, a native of Betonia, Miss., and resident of St. Rose for 31
years, died Dec. 1. She was the wife of Edward Young and mother of Belina Hutchinson, Yolanda
Lewis, Ramona, Jacqueline and Geraldine Young and Ray Thornton.
She is also the daughter of Alice Thornton and sister of Samuel, Roosevelt, Bozie, Edward and
Johnnie Thornton.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

METAIRIE - Thelma Haydel Brown Bourgeois, 92, a native of Garyville and resident of New Orleans
for 72 years, died Dec. 5. She was the mother of Shelby Delhomme and Donald and Wayne
Bourgeois.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 7 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at All Saints
Mausoleum.

COLE-JONES
RESERVE - Germaine Cole-Jones, 37, a native of Norco and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 5. She
was the wife of Sherman Jones Sr. and mother of Carlita Coleman and Ariana and Sherman Jones
Jr.
She was also the daughter of Milton and Carolyn Laurent Cole and sister of Devaliant Cole.
She is also the granddaughter of Dorothy Cole of Gramercy.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Lions, with interment at St.
Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

NEW ORLEANS - Leondia Alfred Day, 91, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans for 76
years, died Dec. 5. She was the wife of the late Ernest Day and mother of Emma Thomas, Adalee
Smith, Olga McGee and Linder, Norman and Jimmy Day.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Charlon Alfred and sister of the late Marie
Schexnayder, Mathilda Landry and George, Paul, Fergus, Oliver and Emile Alfred.
She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, New Orleans, with
interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ESTES
NORCO - Forsee "Jack" Estes, 81, a native of Guion, Ark., and resident of Destrehan, died Dec.
6. He was the husband of the late Lena Mae Treadaway Estes and father of Michelle Harris,
Darlene Wise and John H. Estes, Sr. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason and was the founder of GNOTS-RESERVE in
Destrehan.
Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, with
interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. In lieu of flowers, donations are

GAUDET
LAPLACE - Howard T. Gaudet Sr., 82, a native of Hahnville and resident of LaPlace for 21 years,
died Dec. 5. He was the husband of the late Mary Migliore Gaudet and father of Mona Loisel and
Gail, Howard Jr. and Shelly Gaudet.
He was also the son of the late Thomas and Corinne Gaudet and brother of Vivian Jacob, Mildred
Toye and Clifford and Wade Gaudet.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HAWKINS
LUTCHER - Harold James Hawkins, 75, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 1. He was the
father of Yolanda Osuh and Tyrell J. Hawkins. He was the son of the late Nealy and Carrie
Cooper Hawkins.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 8 at United Methodist Church Lutcher Chapel, with interment at Golden Wreath
Cemetery, Lutcher.

KELLY
ST. JAMES - Ruth Charles Kelly, 83, a native of St. James and resident of New Orleans, died
Dec. 4. She was the wife of the late Ceasar Kelly and mother of Ceasar Shannon, Shirley Smith,
Olivia Jackson and Warren Kelly.
She was also the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Charles and sister of Eula Mae Henry,
Sophie Mae Landry, Delores Mayo, Albert, Herman and Joseph Charles and the late Irma Dennis and
Arthur Sr., Frank Sr., Ford Sr., James, Floyd and Herbert Charles.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren.

RESERVE - Thelma Bourgeois Labiche, 83, a native of Paulina and resident of Reserve, died Dec.
6. She was the wife of the late Louis Labiche and mother of Suzanne Marroy.
She was also the daughter of the late Edwin and Ophelia Bourgeois and sister of the late
Mercedes Roussel, Beatrice Erdal, Agnes Englade, Margaret Souquet and Lionel, Rodney, Alvin,
Gordon and Lester Bourgeois.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BATON ROUGE - Louis London, 72, a native of Lutcher and resident of Baton Rouge, died Dec. 1.
He was the companion of Lizzie Norman. He was also the son of the late Thomas and Pearl London
and brother of Shirley Weathers.
Services are today at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Winnfield Funeral Home, with interment at
Port Hudson National Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10a.m.

MAGEE
NEW ORLEANS - Robert James Magee, 39, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans, died
Dec. 5. He was the father of Chatari Magee. He was also the son of Johnnie Sr. and Dolores
Griffin Magee, brother of Imogene, Johnnie Jr., Joseph and Gilbert Magee and grandson of Alter
Mae Toppins.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Rescue Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with

MORRIS
GRAMERCY - Darrel A. Morris Sr., 23, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 5. He was the
father of Jaya and Jai Lewis, DaRont'e Landry and Darrel Morris Jr.
He was also the son of son of Darrel Johnson Sr. and Carolyn Morris andbrother of Kevin
Johnson, Annette Greenwood, Tammy Sylvan, Wendell Sutherland, Rose Jenkins, Grace Brooks and
Catherine, Darrel Jr., Cornelius and Damon Morris.
Services are today at noon at Golden Grove Baptist Church, Gramercy, with interment at Antioch
Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

SEWELL
BAYOU GAUCHE - The Rev. James R. Sewell, 68, a native of Illinois Bend, Texas, and resident of
LaPlace, died Dec. 3. He was the husband of Naomi Ruth Dufrene Sewell and father of Sherilyn
Derrick and Wendell Sewell.
He was also the brother of Zelma Moore, Marcia Groves, Norene Anderson and Eugene, the Rev.
John and Donald Sewell. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was a retired minister and the former pastor for the Assembly of God churches in Plaquemine,
Hammond, Pineville, Holloway, Dry Prong and Hattiesburg, Miss.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at Community Assembly of God Church, Bayou Gauche, with interment
at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche. Visitation startsat 10 a.m.

SIMON
RESERVE - Vincent A. Simon Sr., 74, a native of Vacherie and resident of Reserve for 38 years,
died Dec. 5. He was the husband of Elta Mae Letulle Simon and father of Debbie Stoltz, Abigail
Nobles, Vincent Jr. and Tracy Simon.
He was also the son of the late Prudent Sr. and Olphida Simon and brother of Allen, Lawrence,
Neil, Floyd and Pelham Simon and the late Eunice Abadie, Blanche Poche, Rose Villnerve, Pearl
Attenhoffer and Prudent Jr., Daniel and Vivian Simon.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and owner-operator of Riverlands Pest Controls from 1962 to 1986.
Services were Dec. 8 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church
cemetery.

VOROS
LULING - Robert Louis "Buck" Voros, 40, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Luling,
died Dec. 6. He was the former husband of Carla D. Farrar. He was also the son of the late Alex
and Mildred East Voros and brother of Jack and the late William Voros.
Services were Dec. 8 at United Methodist Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles
Mausoleum, Luling.

WHANN
KENNER - Shirley Mire Whann, 56, a native of St. Rose and resident of Destrehan, died Dec. 5.
She was the wife of Robert J. Whann Sr. and mother of Robert Whann Jr.
She was also the daughter of Whitney and Victoria "V.V." Cashio Mire.  She is also survived by
two grandchildren.
She was an account clerk at Destrehan Drugs.
Services were Dec. 7 in the chapel of L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with
interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.

WHITNEY
THIBODAUX - Monsignor Philip Whitney, 80, a native of New Orleans, resident of New Orleans for
many years and resident of Thibodaux, died Dec. 5. He was the son of the late Claire Tinney
Whitney and Philip Whitney Sr. and brother of Claire Lottinger, Genevieve Darsey, Stanley
Whitney and the late Ella, Leo Sr., Stephen and John Whitney. He was a retired priest and,
among other assignments, was a pastor at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. He was
ordained in 1947 and appointed a monsignor in 1991 by Pope John Paul II. He retired in 1992.
Services are today at noon at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, with interment at the church
cemetery. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

RIVER RIDGE - Mose "Lloyd" Armstrong, 73, a native of Chaneyville and resident of Boutte, died
Dec. 6. He was the husband of Archbishop Lilly Turner Armstrong and father of Dareal McCray,
Deborah Hall, Rnyshah Jhordeon and Lloyd and Karl Armstrong.
He was also the son of the late Louise Johnson Baker and Mike Armstrong and brother of Carrie
Young, Minerva Moore, Mary Baker, Louise Shepherd, Ross, Joe, Jerry and Clarence Baker and
Baker Wilson.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 11 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at
St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte.

BECNEL
SOUTH VACHERIE - Clifford J. Becnel Jr., 68, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 10.
He was the husband of Irma Cortez Becnel and fatherof Kenneth and Karl Becnel.
He was also the son of the late Clifford Sr. and Henrietta S. Becnel and brother of Marie Steib
and the late Carol and Steven Becnel. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 12 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at
the church cemetery.

KENNER - Jane "Mama Jane" Bourg, 69, a native of Baltimore and resident of Hahnville for 25
years, died Dec. 7. She was the mother of Sharon "Sally" Boudreaux, Lynn Bernard, Maria Cambre,
Norman Cambre, David Harrison and Melvin "Buddy" Bourg.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Dec. 11 in the chapel of L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home,
Kenner.

BROCK
MARRERO - William J. Brock, 79, a native of Vacherie and resident of Gretna for 33 years, died
Dec. 10. He was the husband of Sylvia Borne Brock and father of Stephanie Erbesti.
He was also the son of the late Charles and Edna Hebert Brock and brother of Edianne Landry,
Denise Chapaton and the late Adles Benoit, Ediasse Bourg and Everiste, Louis and Charles Brock.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 12 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our Lady
of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Chackbay.

CAMPBELL
LUTCHER - Joseph Campbell, 82, a native of Mt. Airy and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 7.
He was the husband of Addie Banks Campbell and father of Velma Ellis, Iris Lee, Daisy, Grace,
Royal and Joseph Campbell Jr., Joseph Henderson and the late Lula Campbell.
He was also the son of the late Parker and Cecile Fulton Campbell and brother of Stella Hall,
Clara Barker, Lucy Kennard, Velma Davis and Cecil Belview.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were Dec. 11 at King David Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Golden Wreath
Cemetery, Lutcher.

PAULINA - Wilbert Paul Gaudin Jr., 82, a native and resident of Lutcher, diedDec. 10. He was
the husband of Ruth Foreman Gaudin and father of Carla Gilley, David, Jeffrey and W. Paul

He was a mechanical specialist for Monsanto Chemical Co., served on the Council on Aging and

COLLINS
LUTCHER - Leroy Collins Jr., 69, a native of Paulina and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 22. He
was the father of Larry Davis. He was also the son of Leroy Collins Sr. and the late Ether
McGee Collins. He is also survived by four sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, Lutcher, with
interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at9:30 a.m.

JAMES
RESERVE - Geron "Cutt" James, 16, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 21. He
was the son of Ernest Jr. and Sylvia Bright-James and brother of Garrett and Garland James.
He was also the grandchild of Gertrude Bright and the late Ernest James Sr., Frank Jr. and Alma
Linton and Victor Sr. and Dorothy Bright. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New Plymouth
Rock Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation
starts at 9 a.m.

JASMIN
VACHERIE - Willie "Twin" Jasmin, 84, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 23. He was
the husband of Doretha Adams Jasmin and father of Carrie Borne, Brenda Dumas, Cheryl Williams
and Jerome Adams.
He was also the brother of Almeria Heard, Geraldine White and August Jasmin.
He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 27 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at St. Philip Catholic
Mausoleum, Vacherie.

KNIGHT
GARYVILLE - Henry B. "Pat" Knight, 78, a native of Wagner, Miss., and resident of Garyville and
Reserve, died Dec. 21. He was the son of the late Ben and Alice Knight.
He was also the uncle of Rebecca Davis, Rosalie Clark, Booth Knight and Joseph, Willie Mae,
Elnora, the Rev. James, Leon, Annette and Virginia Davis. Services are today at 11 a.m. at New
Hopeful Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation
starts at 10 a.m.

NECAISE
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Leana "Joan" Strong Necaise, 59, a native of Bay St. Louis, Miss. and a
long-time resident of Luling, died Dec. 23. She was the wife of Robert Necaise and mother of
Darnell Orcutt, Victoria Von-Aspern, Linda Falgoust, Amanda Maise and the late Robert Necaise
Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Ernest and Rena Holden Strong.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 in the chapel of Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, Bay St. Louis, with interment
at Bayou CoCo Cemetery, Kiln, Miss.

RICHARD
LEMANNVILLE - Dorothy F. Richard, 59, a native of St. James and resident of Donaldsonville,
died Dec. 27. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Joseph Watson, by second marriage
of the late Floyd Foster, by third marriage of the late Rosevelt Richard and mother of Lashaun
Foster and the Rev. Stanley and Larry Watson. She was also the daughter of the late Alphonse
and Viola Jones, stepdaughter of Asilee Jones and stepsister of Alice Denoux, Edna Franklin,
Rose Nelson, Lucille Bell, Carolyn Wright and Linda, Michael, Charles, Sterling, Lloyd, Ronnee,
Gary and Lawrence Jones.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Buena Vista Baptist Church, Lemannville, with interment at the
church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

RUSSELL
LUTCHER - Royal Russell Sr., 72, a native and resident of Paulina, died Dec.25. He was the
husband of Margaret Russell and father of Rosalind Williams, Claudia, the Rev. Donald, Randy,
Danny, Carl, Darron and the late Royal Russell Jr.
He was also the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Louvenia Davis Russell and brother of Dorothy
Kirklin, Henrietta, Ernest Sr. and Louis Sr. Russell and thelate Gloria Keller, Rosanna Dupard
and Jeanetta, Dorthy, Velma, Mack and Raymond Russell.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at the
church cemetery.

SCHEXNAYDER
LAPLACE - Inez "Mitzie" Hosea Schexnayder, 74, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 27.
She was the wife of the late Nolan Schexnayder andmother of Ann McKnight and Nolan and Lloyd
Schexnayder.
She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Maria Hosea and sister of Almena Stayton and
the late Thelma Elliott.
She is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 29 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John
Memorial Gardens.

STEWART
VACHERIE - Benjamin Stewart Sr., 65, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 22. He was
the husband of Doris Stewart and father of Arlene Williby, Demetrice Batiste, Anya Trench,
Kareem, Askia, Tonta, Kavis, Nadia, Nashiya, Nikeia Octave and Gregory, Benjamin Jr., Michelle,
Troy and Darrin Stewart. He was also the companion of Nermia Jean Butler. He was also the son
of Celestine Stewart and the late Morris Stewart and brother of Maudry Brown, Clementine Young,
Evelena Sam, Vernia Mae Sheppherd, Irene Sims, Amelia Donald, Merita Williams and Betty and
Enoch Stewart.
He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.

STIPE
KILLONA - Georgina J. "Hattie" Stipe, 65, a native and resident of Killona, died Dec. 21. She
was the wife of the late Estmond Stipe Sr. and mother of Barbara Lockett, Mercy Francois,
Estmond Jr. and Kathy Stipe and the late Bobby Jean Mitchell.
She was also the daughter of the late Abraham and Pricilla Jackson and sister of Diana
Williams, Ann Jupiter, Joanne White, Dorothy Washington, Bertha and Bertrand Jackson and the
late Effie Baloney, Hilda Cummings, Pearl Raymond and Linda, Roosevelt and Peter Jackson.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by one grandchild.
Services were Dec. 29 at Canaan Baptist Church, Killona, with interment at Green Hills
Cemetery, Taft.

TORRES
LAPLACE - Hortense "Nenaine" Torres, 97, a native of Vacherie, former resident of Reserve and
resident of Mandeville, died Dec. 27. She was the daughter of the late James and Josephine
Torres and sister of the late Fernand, Edmond, Ernest, Eddie and Netter Torres.
Services were Dec. 29 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church
cemetery.

VITRANO
HAHNVILLE - Joseph Anthony Vitrano, 75, a native of Birmingham, Ala., and resident of Luling,
died Dec. 26. He was the husband of Dianna Dempster Vitrano and stepfather of Victoria Jackson
and Nyra Naquin.
He was also the son of the late Paul and Annie Spano Vitrano and brother of Paul Jr. and
Nicholas Vitrano. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with
interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
