Darensbourg, 89, a native of Killona and resident of New Orleans for most of his life, died Sept. 27. He was the father of Lois Edgerson and Jean Jones. He was the brother of Alberta Williams. He is survived by 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Services were Oct. 2 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at Restlawn Memorial Park. KIROUAC PAULINA - Jacques Pierre "Jack" Kirouac, 81, a native of Sherbrooke, Canada, and resident of Grand Point, died Sept. 27. He was the husband of Mathilde Poeshl Kirouac and father of Linda Martin, Vivian Miles, Sharon Posey, Christine Heisserer and Dennis and Gary Kirouac. He was the son of the late Pierre and Elphonsine Joliceour Kirouac and brother of Jeannine Pattison, Rolande Pickett and Gustave Kirouac. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. NAQUIN DESTREHAN - Gertrude Agnes "Cotton" Naquin, 83, a native of Garyville and resident of Destrehan, died Sept. 28. She was the wife of 62 years of Harold Naquin Sr. and mother of H.S. "Butch" Jr. and Adrian E. "Chippy" Naquin. POWELL NORCO - Mitchell "Mike" Jones Powell, 72, a native of Haines City, Fla., and resident of Reserve, died Sept. 29. He was the husband of Marjorie D. Powell and father of Linda Delaneuville, Shirley Addison and Michael and James Powell. He was the son of the late Mitchell Sr. and Effie Douglas Powell and brother of Gerald Powell. HEMMELDER KENNER - Frederick "Black" Hebert Hemmelder, 77, a native of St. Rose and resident of River Ridge for 35 years, died Oct. 2. He was the husband of Audrey Gamlen Hemmelder and father of Maury Parker, Sheryl Rogers and Wayne, Chris and Frederick Hemmelder Jr. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Yochim Hemmelder and brother of Mary Burger, Catherine Spinato and the late Thelma Vitrano, Henrietta Larroux and Cyril, Joseph "Tank" and Anthony "Boo" Hemmelder. He is survived by six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was a graduate of Kenner High School and was the second person hired for the original Kenner Police Department. He was a member of the Kenner football team and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of Falstaff Brewing Co. and retired co-owner of Beacon Air & Heating co.
