AMEDEE
GARYVILLE - Vivian Oubre Amedee, 89, a native and resident of Garyville, died Dec. 29. She was
the wife of the late Samuel Amedee and mother of Roy Amedee Sr. She was also the daughter of
the late Theophile and Lena Lorio Oubre and sister of Anna Mae Cashio and the late Leroy Oubre.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were Dec. 30 at
St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

BATISTE
NEW ORLEANS - Michael Norwood Batiste, 41, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for
14 years, died Dec. 24. He was the husband of Antoinette Harvey Batiste and father of Ryan and
Brad Batiste. He was also the son of Norwood Batiste. He is also survived by his grandmother,
Equator Batiste. Services were Dec. 30 at Star of Bethel Baptist Church, New Orleans, with
interment at Providence Memorial Park.

BURKE
EDGARD - Thaddeus Jude Burke, 43, a native of Vacherie and resident of Baton Rouge, died Dec.
29. He was the son of Irving Jr. and Rose Burke, brother of Elizabeth Guarrillo, Charlene
Gillard, Gerald Sr. and Emmanuel Burke and adopted brother of Ray Sr. and Dora Edwards.
Services were Jan. 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the
church cemetery.

CLEMENT
CHALMETTE - Bobbie Jean Clement, 66, a native of Norco and resident of St. Bernard Parish for
49 years, died Dec. 29. She was the daughter of the late Aline Landry and Joseph Clement and
sister of Peggy Morales and Aline, Gerald and Ray Clement. Services were Jan. 2 in the chapel
of Vickers, Verrette & Dornan Funeral Home, Chalmette, with interment at St. Bernard Memorial
Gardens.

MURPHY
AMA - Esther Petit Murphy, 76, a native of New Orleans and resident of Ama, died Dec. 28. She
was the wife of the late Arnold Murphy. She was also the daughter of the late Octave and Elbe
Petit and sister of Lynn, Merlin and Ursula Petit and the late Minerva Champagne, Irma Gagneaux
and Allen and Hilton Petit. Services were Dec. 30 at St. Marks Catholic Church, Ama, with
interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.

SCALLAN
NEW ORLEANS - Albert Joseph Scallan, 71, a native of Reserve and resident of Metairie for 36
years, died Dec. 29. He was the husband of Maridel Smith Scallan and father of Julie Christman
and Matthew, Paul, Albert, Andrew, John, Patrick, Christopher and Jeremy Scallan. He was also
the brother of Rita Zeringue. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. He was a graduate of
Leon Godchaux High School and worked in the oil field service industry for many years. Services
are Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, New Orleans, with private interment.
Visitation will be Jan. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Leitz- Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie.

TORRENCE
LAPLACE - Carolyn Cooper Torrence, 53, a native of Gramercy and resident of Kenner, died Dec.
26. She was the wife of Elzy Torrence and mother of Travis Torrence. She was also the sister of
Betty Coleman, Jacqueline Mattos, Lily Teague, Beverly Johnson, Donna Williams and Ricky
Cooper. She was a teacher in the St. James Parish school system. Services were Dec. 30 at the
Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Garden, LaPlace.

METAIRIE - Lillian Urso Boudreaux, 78, a native of St. James and resident of Slidell for seven
years, died Jan. 1. She was the mother of Janet Buras and Gerald, Thomas and Edward Boudreaux.
She was also the sister of Ruby Delatte. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Services
were Jan. 3 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Lake Lawn
Park.

GORDON
LULING - Romelis "Nunny" Gordon Jr., 76, a native and resident of Luling, died Dec. 30. He was
the husband of the late Cora Wright Gordon and father of Thomas Pierre. He was also the son of
the late Romelis and Alice Gordon and brother of Brenda Fuller, Eva Adams, Mathilda Singleton,
Willie Mae Taylor and Francis, Amelia, Earl, Charles and the late Lawrence, Alma and August
Gordon. Services were Jan. 5 at Bell Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at Bethlehem
Cemetery, Hahnville.

JOHNSON
NEW SARPY - Edward "Eddie Bo" "Cheeta" Johnson, 50, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died
Dec. 29. He was the husband of Rose Stewart and father of Danielle Kenner, Odie Murphy, Shelia
Martin, Theresa Davis, Augustine Melancon, Shedrick Kenner and Freddie Martin. He was also the
brother of Angela Davis and Terry, Roy, Charles, James and William Johnson Jr. He is also
survived by 21 grandchildren. Services were Jan. 5 at House of Prayer Baptist Church, New
Sarpy, with interment at Ashbury Cemetery, Clinton.

JOHNSON
VACHERIE - Gerald James Johnson Sr., 51, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 31. He
was the husband of Phyllis Smith Johnson, father of Gerald Johnson Jr. and stepfather of
Stevenson and Lance Champagne. He was also the son of the late Lebora Melancon and brother of
Debra Graham, Marvin Jasmin and Michael Williams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War
and worked as a supervisor at St. James Youth Center. Services are today at noon at First
Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at St. Luke Baptist Cemetery, Moonshine. Visitation
starts at 10 a.m.

LANCASTER
DES ALLEMANDS - Willie "Bill" Reginald Lancaster, 74, a native of Pensacola, Fla., and resident
of Paradis for 53 years, died Jan. 1. He was the husband of Mary Estay Lancaster and father of
Linda Matherne and Terry Lancaster. He was also the son of the late Samuel and Seresa Carver
Lancaster and brother of Adeline Warehime, Lucille Richardson and the late Myra Colley, Hazel
Loggins and Tracy Lancaster Sr. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 4 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church, with interment at
Sunset Cemetery, Des Allemands.

LUMAR
EDGARD - Dolores "Momma Neet" Brooks Lumar, 75, a native and resident of Edgard, died Jan. 2.
She was the wife of the late Fonaires Lumar Sr., and mother of Marie Gross, Carolyn Johnson and
Walter, Betsy and the late Holly Paul and Fonaires Lumar Jr. She was also the daughter of the
late Walter and Mary Brooks and sister of Maria Simon, Gloria Johnson, Roger and George Brooks
and the late Gertie Mitchell and Anna Lumar. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren. Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

McFALL
HARVEY - Anita Savois McFall, 70, a native of Algiers and resident of LaPlace for the past six
years, died Jan. 1. She was the wife of the late Francis P. McFall and mother of JoAnn and
Kathy McFall. She was also the daughter of the late Elmo and Anita Daigle Savois. Services were
Jan. 4 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey, with interment at McDonough Cemetery.

NELSON
KENNER - Bernice Oubre Nelson, 75, a native of New Orleans and resident of New Sarpy for 40
years, died Jan. 1. She was the wife of the late Vincent Nelson Sr. and mother of Vincent Jr.,
Brian, Bruce, Wendy, Stephanie and the late Craig Nelson. She was also the daughter of the late
Gilbert and Blanche Blanchard Oubre, and sister of Elizabeth Hebert and the late Clarabel
Shepard and Gilbert Jr. and Arthur "Oscar" Oubre. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 4 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with
interment at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

PRATER
METAIRIE - Dorothy Mae "Miss Dot" Stansbury Prater, 68, a native of Opelousas and resident of
Norco for the past 22 years, died Dec. 28. She was the wife of Junior Levi Prater and mother of
Laura Moody and Manuel, Gene, Richard and Zane Prater. She was also the sister of Leroy
Stansbury, Rosemary LeBlanc and Totsie Breaux. She is also surivived by eight grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 4 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, Metairie.

STEWART
HAHNVILLE - Oscar "Dickey" Stewart, 50, a native of Woodville, Miss., and resident of Luling,
died Dec. 30. He was the husband of Sandra Gair Stewart and father of Senitra Taylor, Keesha
Broussard, Dwan Motley and Shatiera Shepard and stepfather of Dana Gair. He was also the son of
Elizabeth Hans Stewart and the late George Stewart and brother of Cora Hollins, Lucy James,
Geraldine Johnson, Richard Robinson and Majory, Sarah, Annie, Joseph, Sylvester, Audrey and
Henry Stewart. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Services are today at 1 p.m. at King
Solomon Baptist Church, Woodville, Miss., with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation
starts at 8 a.m. at True Vine Baptist Church, Hahnville.

WALLACE
LUTCHER - Hazel Turner Wallace, 84, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 31. She was the
wife of the late Royal Wallace Sr. and mother of Hazel Franklin, Osborne Sr. and Royal Wallace
Jr. She was also the daughter of the late William and Lorena Russell Turner and sister of John
Turner and the late Clemontine Traveler and Ollie, Alvin Sr. and Ernest Turner Sr. She is also
survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 4 at King
Solomon Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent.

WASHINGTON
C0NVENT - Myrtle "Mike" Washington, 78, a resident of Convent, died Dec. 30. She was the
daughter of the late Mitchell and Leontine Washington and sister of Shirley Melancon, Frank
Jacque and the late Mitchell Washington Jr. Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the
Archangel Catholic Church, Convent, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at
9 a.m.

ZERINGUE
KENNER - Arialle Daeshon Zeringue, 7, a native of Metairie and resident of St. Rose, died Dec.
31. She was the daughter of Alvin Zeringue Jr. and Donna Turner and sister of Deshonara Turner,
Denzel Jackson and Dashonara and Alvin Zeringue III. She was also the grandchild of Brenda
Turner, Leonard Woodward Jr., the Rev. and Mrs. Donald L. Turner Sr. and Carolyn and the late
Alvin Zeringue Sr. Services were Jan 5 at Sweet Home Christian Center, Kenner, with interment
at Love and Charity Cemetery.

BECNEL LULING - Amelie Chapoton Becnel, 95, a native of Garyville and resident of Luling, died
Jan. 5. She was the wife of the late Whitney Becnel and mother of Barbara Zeringue. She was
also the daughter of the late Fred Sr. and Pauline Naquin Chapoton and sister of the late Maude
Roth and Malcolm, Milton, Alfred Jr. and Wallace Chapoton. She is also survived by six
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 8 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic
Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

BOUDREAUX PAULINA - Florette Millet Boudreaux, 88, a resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 5. She was
the wife of the late Murphy Boudreaux and mother of Yvonne Jones. She was also the sister of
Daniel, Percy and the late Jessice Bourgeois, May DeGroff and Amelus "Buddy" and Bourgeois
Millet. She is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were
Jan. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment in the church mausoleum.

CHIQUET DENHAM SPRINGS - Fredrick Joseph Chiquet, 58, a native of Welcome and resident of
Denham Springs, died Jan. 5. He was the husband of Cheryl Samson Chiquet for 33 years and
father of Staci Smith and Scott and Cory Chiquet. He was also the son of Mildred Landry Chiquet
and the late Eddie Chiquet and brother of Linda Byrd, Pat Coleman and Charles "Chucky" and Paul
Chiquet. He is also survived by one grandchild. Services were Jan. 8 at Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church, Denham Springs, with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

DAVIS HAHNVILLE - Harvey Davis Sr., 75, a native and resident of Killona, died Jan. 3. He was
the husband of Charlotte Joseph Davis and father of Lydia Cook, David and Harvey Davis Jr. He
was also the son of the late Victoria Johnson and Filmore Davis and brother of the late Evelyn
Valentine, Ola Brown and Filmore Jr., Arthur Sr. and Stanley Davis Sr. He is also survived by
three grandchildren. Services were Jan. 8 in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with
interment at Greenhill Cemetery, Taft.

FLETCHER VACHERIE - Richard Fletcher Sr., 72, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 4.
He was the husband of Ellen Fletcher and father of Laura Collins and Jeanette, Larry, Flemon,
Kelvin, Carl and Richard Fletcher Jr. He was also the son of the late James and Bertha Fletcher
and brother of Corinne Lewis and the late Dolores Stacks, Velma Thomas, Ella Mae Hatty and
Leona and Harold Fletcher Sr. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 9 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at
the church cemetery.

GUIDRY RESERVE - Leon "Pap" Guidry, 78, a native of Lions and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 5.
He was the husband of Emily Chenet Guidry. He was also the son of the late Edwin Sr. and Eva
Graugnard Guidry and brother of Elmore "Inez" Montz, E.L. "Theresa" Hotard and Ann, Marion,
James, Julien, Paul, Albert, Francis, John and the late E.J. Guidry Jr. He was the retired
owner-president of Guidry Distributing Co., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of VFW
Post 5004, American Legion Post of Reserve, St. James Historical Society, River Road Historical
Society and a fourth-degree member of Archbishop Blenk Assembly Knights of Columbus Msgr.
Eyraud Council. Services were Jan. 8 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at
St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

NAQUIN PAULINA - Ruth Pettit Naquin, 86, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Paulina,
died Jan. 5. She was the wife of Herman J. Naquin and mother of Pat Dicharry and Betty Jane
Millet. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services were
Jan. 8 at St. Joseph Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.

RODDY PAULINA - Kerman Joseph Roddy, 92, a native of Mathews and resident of Lutcher, died Jan.
7. He was the husband of the late Elsie Englade Roddy, and father of Patricia Deloach and
Donald and McKay Roddy. He was also the son of the late Yancy and Mary Bergeron Roddy and
brother of Dorothy Roussel and the late Guy, Harry and Earl Roddy. He is also survived by 10
grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services are today at 10
a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation
starts at 9 a.m.

STOCKMAN EDGARD - Armster "Cosmo" Stockman, 33, a native of Edgard and resident of Metairie,
died Jan. 3. He was the husband of Stephanie Battie Stockman and father of Shatira, Davon,
Shakera, Treyvon and Alice Stockman. He was also the son of Mary S. Adams, Bernard Growe and
the late Jeff Adams and brother of Andrella Edwards, Katrina Lewis, Walter Webb, Vincent
Dorest, Shelise Brown, Keona Walker, Lionel, Vincent and Kenyatie Adams and Lynette Stockman.
Services were Jan. 9 at Second African Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Providence
Memorial Park Cemetery, Metairie.

SUMLER NEW ORLEANS - Lawrence Aristead Sumler, 85, a native of Paradis and resident of New
Orleans for more than 20 years, died Jan. 4. He was the father of Kathleen Turner and Gail and
Lawrence Sumler. He was the first African-American student at the Bellevue School of Nursing in
New York City. Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New
Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m.

TAUZIER CHALMETTE - Jeanne Martin Tauzier, 88, a native of Paulina and resident of Chalmette
for 37 years, died Jan. 6. She was the wife of the late Martin Tauzier Sr. and mother of Diana
Wolfe, Susan Mayley and Martin Tauzier Jr. She was also the daughter of the late Jeanette
Louque and Benjamin Martin and sister of Mildred Haley and the late Alton, Kermit, Clarence and
Ruth Martin. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one grandchild. Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of St. Bernard
Funeral Home, Chalmette, with interment at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Visitation starts at
9:30 a.m.

WEBER LAPLACE - Daniel J. Weber Sr., 50, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 6. He was
the father of Sonny Weber. He was also the son of Dewey and Bernice Weber and brother of
Paulette Hall and Wayne Weber. Services were Jan. 8 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church,
LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

VACHERIE - F. Neal "Butch" Bolton, 62, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 8. He was
the husband of Joanna Lasseigne Bolton and father of Cindy Howington, Connie Amedee, Susan
Falgoust and William and Dean Bolton.
He was also the son of Corinne Olivier Bolton and the late Franklin Neal Bolton and brother of
Marilyn Vitrano, Frances Dumez and George Bolton.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
He was a general manager of St. James Sugar Co-Op and a board member of the American Sugar Cane
League.
Services were Jan. 11 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church
cemetery.

CAYETTE
ST. JAMES - Maude Jackson Cayette, 48, a native and resident of St. James, died Jan. 10. She
was the wife of Milton Cayette Jr. and mother of Roshanda and Milton Cayette III.
She was also the daughter of the late Dolman Sr. and Maude Philip Jackson and sister of Shirley
Ray, Rose Bottley, Elsie Jackson, Angela Cayette, Dolman Jackson Jr. and the late Virginia
Steib.
She was a retired plant operator at Motiva in Convent.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the
church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

CLAYTON
PAULINA - Cordell "Cool-C" Clayton, 27, a native and resident of Paulina, died Jan. 9. He was
the son of Joyce Clayton Butler and the late Eric Nicholas and stepson of Alfred Butler Jr.
He was also the grandson of Berthella Nicholas and Ernest Sr. and the late Louizer Clayton. He
was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louizer Keys Clayton.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch
Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

COLBERT
DES ALLEMANDS - Eddie Colbert Jr., 89, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 8. He
was the husband of the late Leona M. Colbert and father of Yolanda Scott and Lionel Williams.
He was also the son of the late Mary Adams and Eddie Colbert Sr. and brother of Willie Colbert
and the late Donna Parker and Charlie Tolliver.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Shell
Mound Cemetery, Des Allemands. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

NEW ORLEANS - Willa Mae Cureaux, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans, died Jan. 7.
She was the former wife of the late Alvin Cureaux Sr., mother of Melissa Jones, Vondakay
Melton, Kimberly, Alvin Jr. and the late Keith Cureaux and stepmother of Munson Sims, D'etta
Picou and Samantha Badon.
She was also the daughter of the late Evelina, Dorothy and Victor Bright Sr. and sister of
Berry Devare, Dianne Johnson, Barbara Mitchell, Sylvia James, Gwendolyn Juniors, Mary Nelson,
Shirley Woodland, Lori Reid, Geraldine, Ulysses and Herman Bright and the late Peggy Hawkins,
Jesse Grace Sr. and Victor Bright Jr.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MILLET
GARYVILLE - Lucille Marie "Lucy" Millet, 84, a native and resident of Mt. Airy, died Jan. 9.
She was the daughter of the late Sidney Sr. and Adele Petit Millet and sister of Theresa
Berthelot and Jerome, Godfrey and the late Sidney Millet Jr.
She was a former postmistress of the Mt. Airy Post Office for 20 years.
Services were Jan. 12 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter
Cemetery, Reserve.

MITCHELL
LAPLACE - Jamar Carvell Mitchell, 23, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 6. He was the
son of Donald and Brenda Vinnett Mitchell and brother of Gayland and Trent Mitchell.
He was also the grandson of Marjorie Vinnett and Leona Jones.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at New Wine Christian Fellowship, LaPlace, with interment at
Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MORRIS
MT. AIRY - Sydonnia Morris, 25, a native of Garyville and resident of LaPlace for 10 years,
died Jan. 6. She was the mother of Joi Morris and Jasmin and Jontrey Esko.
She was also the daughter of Lester Sr. and Linda Morris Esko and sister of Shannon Florent,
Sandra Taylor, Lester Jr., Linwood, Manuel and Kendall Esko and Adrian and Emmanuel Duhe. She
is also survived by a grandmother, Vivian Braxton.
She was a secretary for the St. John the Baptist Parish Housing Authority.
Services were Jan. 11 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at Zion Travelers
Cemetery, Lions.

PERRILLOUX
RESERVE - Yana Niquel Perrilloux, 23, a native and resident of Garyville, died Jan. 8. She was
the daughter of Jerome and Lanelle Gauff Perrilloux and sister of Gabrielle Perrilloux.
She was also the granddaughter of Joseph and Ella Perrilloux and the late Lucien Sr. and Velma
Gauff and great-granddaughter of the late Joe and Ella White and Ernest and Azalea Perrilloux.
She was a graduate of Our Lady of Grace School, a 1995 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High
School and a psychology senior at the University of New Orleans, where she was in the Alpha
Kappa Alpha sorority, and was employed at the New Orleans Airport Hilton.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at
St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

HAHNVILLE - Augustine Gloria Myers Austin, 74, a native of New Orleans and resident of
Hahnville, died Jan. 19. She was the wife of the late Warren "Jelly Bean" Austin Sr. and mother
of Victoria Turner, Mary White, Ethel Howard, Vera White, Verna Marshall, Augustine Wilson,

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at St.
James United Methodist Cemetery, Hahnville. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

FREDERICK
GARYVILLE - Joseph Frederick Jr., 77, a native and resident of Garyville, died Jan. 22. He was
the husband of Sedonia C. Frederick and father of Earl and Ervin Frederick.
He was also the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Georgiana C. Frederick and brother of Gustavia
Shepard.
He is also survived by a host of grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 26 at New Hopeful Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter
Cemetery, Reserve.

GRIFFIN
ST. JAMES - Sarah Carter Griffin, 82, a native and resident of St. James, died Jan. 21. She was
the wife of the late Henry Griffin Sr. and mother of Isabelle, Lillion and the late Clarence,
Charles, Gladys, Vivian and Henry Griffin Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Dennis and Racheal Carter.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at Burton
Lane Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

JOSEPH
RESERVE - Willie Joseph, 63, a native and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 19. He was the husband
of Carolyn Jones Joseph, father of Hilton Frank, Linda Washington, Margie Wright and Reginald
Joseph and stepfather of Stacy Jones and Tangelina Charles.
He was also the son of the late Robert and Stella Reynolds Joseph and brother of Beatrice
Weber, Ethel Coleman, Emelda Stewart and Andrew, Robert, Charlie and Lionel Joseph.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at
St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MEDISE
DONALDSONVILLE - Leola Medise, 86, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Modeste, died
Jan. 23. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Albertha Melancon and sister of Marjorie
Johnson and the late Elizabeth Williams, Leanna Rosemond, Rosetta Julien and Morris Melancon.
She is survived by a niece, Lorraine Robinson, and eight nephews, Aaron Julien, Timothy
Robinson Jr. and Arthur, Percy, Valentine, Sidney, James and Walter Rosemond.
Services were Jan. 26 at First Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, with interment at the church
cemetery.

PETTY
IDA - Crit Petty Jr., 83, a native of Ida and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 22. He was
the husband of Lillie Cobb Petty and father of Mary Chester and Charles, David and the late
Suzanne and Michael Petty.
He was also the son of the late Crit Sr. and Gypsy Bell Petty and brother of Damaris Boston,
Douglas Petty and the late Myrtle Thompson, Ingles Pruitt and Joseph, Frank and Merwin Petty.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Ida Methodist Church, with interment at Bethsaida Cemetery,
Ida. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

POTIER
GUEYDAN - Clifton Potier Sr., 54, a native of Gueydan and resident of Reserve for 34 years,
died Jan. 24. He was the former husband of Delores Trisler and father of Cynthia Boone and
Clifton Potier Jr.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 26 in the chapel of Vincent Funeral Home, Gueydan, with interment at Gueydan
Cemetery.

THIBODEAUX
MARRERO - Eddie Thibodeaux, 84, a native of Gheens, former longtime resident of Westwego and
resident of Luling and Des Allemands for the past 15 years, died Jan. 23. He was the husband of
Edith Sapia Thibodeaux and father of Joyce Rudolph, Dolly Monceaux, Katie Vegas, Tillie Breaux
and Kerman Thibodeaux.
He was also the son of the late Alexander and Gloria Pierce Thibodeaux and brother of Melia
Orgeron, Mable Guilliot, Beulah Chaisson, Eva Ordoyne, Lorena Adams, Norris Thibodeaux and the
late Estellina Vicknair, Gertie Danos and Enola and Euna Thibodeaux.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
Services were Jan. 26 in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our
Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego.
