She was the wife of the late Samuel Amedee and mother of Roy Amedee Sr. She was also the daughter of the late Theophile and Lena Lorio Oubre and sister of Anna Mae Cashio and the late Leroy Oubre. She is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were Dec. 30 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. BATISTE NEW ORLEANS - Michael Norwood Batiste, 41, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for 14 years, died Dec. 24. He was the husband of Antoinette Harvey Batiste and father of Ryan and Brad Batiste. He was also the son of Norwood Batiste. He is also survived by his grandmother, Equator Batiste. BURKE EDGARD - Thaddeus Jude Burke, 43, a native of Vacherie and resident of Baton Rouge, died Dec. 29. He was the son of Irving Jr. and Rose Burke, brother of Elizabeth Guarrillo, Charlene Gillard, Gerald Sr. and Emmanuel Burke and adopted brother of Ray Sr. and Dora Edwards. CLEMENT CHALMETTE - Bobbie Jean Clement, 66, a native of Norco and resident of St. Bernard Parish for 49 years, died Dec. 29. She was the daughter of the late Aline Landry and Joseph Clement and sister of Peggy Morales and Aline, Gerald and Ray Clement. MURPHY AMA - Esther Petit Murphy, 76, a native of New Orleans and resident of Ama, died Dec. 28. She was the wife of the late Arnold Murphy. She was also the daughter of the late Octave and Elbe Petit and sister of Lynn, Merlin and Ursula Petit and the late Minerva Champagne, Irma Gagneaux and Allen and Hilton Petit. SCALLAN NEW ORLEANS - Albert Joseph Scallan, 71, a native of Reserve and resident of Metairie for 36 years, died Dec. 29. He was the husband of Maridel Smith Scallan and father of Julie Christman and Matthew, Paul, Albert, Andrew, John, Patrick, Christopher and Jeremy Scallan. He was also the brother of Rita Zeringue. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. He was a graduate of Leon Godchaux High School and worked in the oil field service industry for many years. GORDON LULING - Romelis "Nunny" Gordon Jr., 76, a native and resident of Luling, died Dec. 30. He was the husband of the late Cora Wright Gordon and father of Thomas Pierre. He was also the son of the late Romelis and Alice Gordon and brother of Brenda Fuller, Eva Adams, Mathilda Singleton, Willie Mae Taylor and Francis, Amelia, Earl, Charles and the late Lawrence, Alma and August Gordon. JOHNSON NEW SARPY - Edward "Eddie Bo" "Cheeta" Johnson, 50, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died Dec. 29. JOHNSON VACHERIE - Gerald James Johnson Sr., 51, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 31. He was the husband of Phyllis Smith Johnson, father of Gerald Johnson Jr. and stepfather of Stevenson and Lance Champagne. He was also the son of the late Lebora Melancon and brother of Debra Graham, Marvin Jasmin and Michael Williams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a supervisor at St. James Youth Center. JAMES - Sarah Carter Griffin, 82, a native and resident of St. James, died Jan. 21. She was the wife of the late Henry Griffin Sr. and mother of Isabelle, Lillion and the late Clarence, Charles, Gladys, Vivian and Henry Griffin Jr. She was also the daughter of the late Dennis and Racheal Carter. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. THIBODEAUX MARRERO - Eddie Thibodeaux, 84, a native of Gheens, former longtime resident of Westwego and resident of Luling and Des Allemands for the past 15 years, died Jan. 23. He was the husband of Edith Sapia Thibodeaux and father of Joyce Rudolph, Dolly Monceaux, Katie Vegas, Tillie Breaux and Kerman Thibodeaux. He was also the son of the late Alexander and Gloria Pierce Thibodeaux and brother of Melia Orgeron, Mable Guilliot, Beulah Chaisson, Eva Ordoyne, Lorena Adams, Norris Thibodeaux and the late Estellina Vicknair, Gertie Danos and Enola and Euna Thibodeaux. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
