He was also the son of the late Rene and Elvire Chapaton Catoire and brother of May Kugler, Helen Delhommer, Louise Oubre, Lloyd Pershing, Elmore Catoire and the late Lucille Keller and Clarence Catoire. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. FLORENT VACHERIE - Cecile "Mama" Florent, 73, a native of Ponchatoula and lifelong resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 24. She was the mother of Eva Melancon, Barbara Gibson, Dion Melancon and Julius Collins Sr. She was also the sister of Mildred Harris and Gloria Collins. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation starts at 10 a.m. WILKING LAPLACE - Stephanie "Nikki" Wilking, 17, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 27. She was the daughter of Kevin and Paula Wilking and sister of Jason, Ashley and Kyle Wilking. She was also the granddaughter of George and Evelyn Wilking and Betty and Joe Duplessis and stepgranddaughter of Peggy Oldom. She was the founder of Kids for Kops while in fifth grade at Reserve Christian School, attended the 1997 National Law Enforcement Memorial Service honoring slain police officers in Washington, D.C., and earned the LaPlace Rotary Club's 1997 Citizen of the Year award. She also found time to be active in basketball, softball, track, karate, dance, swimming and was a lifeguard at Riverlands Country Club. Songy, 72, a native of Edgard and resident of Baton Rouge, died March 4. He was the son of the late Claude and Fabiola "Chippy" Songy and brother of Cleo deGraauw, Elsy Morris, Enid Nielsen and Kenneth Sr. and the Rev. Monsignor James Songy. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He was a Gramercy city councilman, a veteran of World War II, active in the Jaycees and American Legion Post 81 for more than 50 years. He accepted Jehovah at an early age and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah­s Witnesses in Winnfield, LaPlace and Pine Bluff, Ark. He received his early education in the Winn Parish, Caddo Parish, Pine Bluff and St. John the Baptist Parish schools and was a seventh-grader at Leon Godchaux Junior High School. Justen was an honor student involved in many extracurricular activities. He was a red-ribbon winner at the 4-H Food Focus contest and was recently chosen to represent his school at the 4-H Camp. He placed at his school­s science fair and went on to compete at the parish level. In addition, he received first place honors at his school­s social studies fair. Justen advanced to compete at the regionals at Nicholls State University. He was an active member of the chess, computer, French and Spanish clubs. He was a former karate student and excelled in his role as teammate of the NOAH Gators and the Leon Godchaux football team. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Emma J.
