She was also the daughter of the late James and Lorenza Watkins and sister of Audrey King, Nellie Farlough, Marion Ward, Joyce Taylor, Betty Sonney, Barbara Julien, Harold, Clarence and Cornelius Watkins and the late Azelia Fobb and Nelson Watkins. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. DETILLIER LUTCHER - Myrna Englade Detillier, 65, a native and resident of Lutcher, died April 27. She was the wife of Percy "Pep" Detillier and mother of Petty Pollet, Lisa Hymel and Alen and Bret Detillier. She was also the daughter of the late Clay Sr. and Petty Englade and sister of Lalita Poche and Clay "Albert" Jr. and Wilfred Englade. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. WILLIAMS MARRERO - James Jake Williams Sr., 69, a native of Reserve and resident of Waggaman, died April 29. He was the husband of Lena May Janes Williams and father of Debra Comardelle and James Jr., David and Ronald Williams. He was also the brother of Mary, Athanas "Boy" and Earl "Sonny" Williams. Oliver, 80, a native of Killona, longtime resident of New Orleans and resident of Slidell, died May 1. She was the wife of the late Chester W. Oliver and mother of Jo Ann Morse, Charles, Morris, Reinsford and Danny Bazzelle and Donald and Walter Oliver. She was also the daughter of the late Romain and Hermania Madere Lemoine and sister of Lorraine "Tiny" Noll and Richard and Rex Lemoine. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a clerk at Woolworth Department Store on Canal Street for 25 years. SCHEXNAYDER PAULINA - Mary Alda Delauneville Schexnayder, 99, a native of Garyville and resident of LaPlace, died May 3. Haydel, 55, a native of Wallace and a resident of St. James, died May 4. He was the husband of Rosemary B. Haydel and father of Martha Batiste. He was also the son of the late Dalton and Priscilla Bethancourt Haydel and brother of Ora Lee Ferchaud, Gilba Marshall, Mary Ann Burrell, Lynda Pierce, Theophile Sr., Murry and Jerry Haydel and the late Ruby Becnel and Raymond Haydel. LAICHE GRAMERCY - Robert Whitmore Laiche Sr., 80, a native of Paulina and resident of Gramercy, died May 4. He was the husband of Ella Oubre Laiche and father of Rita Ann Cambre and Catherine, Robert Jr., Ronald, Donald and Glenn Laiche. He was also the son of the late Henry and Simidia Laiche and brother of Eve Long and the late Virginia Blank. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. LAURENT HAHNVILLE - Alcide Joseph Laurent, 83, a native of Taft and resident of Hahnville, died May 6. He was the husband of 60 years of Frances Falgout Laurent and father of Susan Arcement and Karen Bradberry. He was also the son of the late Alcide and Laure Laurent and brother of Rita Zeringue and Audrey, Sidney, Julius, Ursula, Harold and the late Sebastian Laurent. He is also survived by five grandchildren. He was retired from the Bank of St. Charles and from the position of executive director of United Way of St. Charles. Services are May 10 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery in Taft. Visitation is today from 6 to 10 p.m. at H.C. LOWRY NORCO - Valery Patrick "Happy" Lowry, 86, a native of Lutcher and resident of Norco, died May 5. He was the husband of Gladys Keller Lowry and father of Michael, Thomas, John and Allen Lowry. He was also the son of the late Richard and Corrine Ruler Lowry and is survived by two sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandchild. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a retired shift foreman at Shell Oil Company, Norco. Ocmand Sr., 79, a native of Garyville and resident of Reserve for 54 years, died May 6. He was the husband of Bernadette K. Ocmand and father of Tama Forsyth, Lisa Brasington and David, Claude Jr., Chris Sr., Stephen, Joel Sr., Kirk, Cory and Jeffrey Ocmand. He was also the son of the late Antoine and Marie Tamplain Ocmand and brother of Myrna Cox, Gillespie Sr. and Wilbert Ocmand and the late Alice Waguespack and Onell and Antoine Ocmand. He was the husband of Beverly Breaux and father of Gwenesta Fenroy, Dwanese Dunn, Lanai Pope and Thadrance, LeTuana, Rickie, Kirkland, Kevin, Willie, Aaron and Isadore Breaux III. Me was also the son of Mildred Humphrey and brother of Geraldine Livingston. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Services were April 30 at Praises of Zion Baptist Church, Los Angeles, with interment at Inglewood Park Cemetery. HALL RESERVE - Edward Hall, 96, a native and resident of Reserve, died May 16. He was the husband of the late Vivian A. Hall and father of Esma Brougham, Reah Bernard, Sister Cornelia Hall and the late Edsel Hall. He was also the son of the late Caroline Duhe and Edward Hall and brother of Robert Hall and the late Viola Colon and Priscilla, Marretta, Edmond, Clarence and Herbert Hall. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. He was a civil rights activist and founder of the St. John the Baptist Parish branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In 1944, he challenged discriminatory voting practices through a federal lawsuit. In 1997, he was grand marshal of the annual march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King in Reserve. He also helped organize a labor union at the Godchaux Sugar Refinery in Reserve and, in 1991, received the Order of St. Louis Medallion from the New Orleans archdiocese. East 27th Street in Reserve was renamed Edward Hall Street in his honor by the St. John Parish Council. Services were May 18 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. MALBOROUGH NEW ORLEANS - Sister Mary Jude Malborough, O.P., 85, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans, died May 17. She was the daughter of the late Adam and Amelia Schmidt Malborough and sister of the late Agnes Cooper, Lucille Waguespack, Matiel Vicknair, Mable Louque and Emile, Wilson, Rudolph, Whitney, Clarence and Rita Malborough. He was the husband of Dorothy Montegut Dufresne. He was also the son of the late Albert and Louise Cambre Dufresne and brother of Adele Richard, Marie Louise Hanson and the late Vivian Landry, Winnie Millet, Thelma Blank, Evena Luquette and Clarence and Henry Dufresne. He was a World War II veteran and an employee of Shell Oil for 33 years. Services were held May 21 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. GLOSTER VACHERIE - Nettie "Coon" Amant Gloster, 89, a resident of Vacherie, died May 16. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Jules Armant and by second marriage of the late Etienne Gloster and mother of Clarence Bazile, Jerry Lee Williams, Norman and Joseph Armant Jr. and the late Imelda Ross and Rose Lee Williams and stepmother of Onelia Williams, Irma and Joshua Gloster. She was also the daughter of the late Angelle Noel and Sullivan Williams and sister of Leona Moses and the late Albertha Gibson, Geneva Fletcher and Isaiah Williams. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great- grandchildren. Services were May 22 at First Baptist Church of Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. He was the husband of Julia Samuel Joseph and father of Tabatha and Michael Joseph Sr. and by first marriage of Mary Rounds, Shirley Dorsey, Gilda Woods, Matthew Jr. and Ulysses Joseph. He was the husband of Carol Gueret Brignac and father of Larry Jr. and Matthew Brignac and stepfather of Shane Champagne, Michele Walker, Melanie Turner and Herbert Champagne Jr. He was also the son of Lawrence and Elaine Acosta Brignac and brother of Cathy Louque, Paulette Descant and the late Chris Brignac. "Dee" Davis, 60, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for the past 30 years, died May 24. She was the daughter of Doris Newman and the late Edward Newman and sister of Deborah Wilson and Denise Newman. Services were May 26 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery. EVANS BELLE CHASSE - Rose Holly Bourgeois Evans, 82, a native of Vacherie and resident of Belle Chasse for the past 16 years, died May 26. She was the wife of the late James Robert Evans. She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Pollet Bourgeois and sister of Henry Bourgeois and the late Sultana Julien, Monique Acosta, Eve Hedges, Alma Simon, Alicia Gravolet, Miriam Brady and Knox, Gates, Lloyd and Onyx Bourgeois. Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Belle Chasse, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. WEDGE PARADIS - Dennis George Wedge, 19, a native of New Orleans and resident of Bayou Gauche, died May 25. He was the son of David Sr. and Lori McMullen Wedge and brother of Amanda and David Jr. "D.J." Wedge. He was also the grandson of Daniel and Dorothy Wedge and Dennis and Jeri McMullen. Services were May 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche. # # #
