Vordenbaumen Lumber Yard, and agent for Water's Pierce Oil Company, is a native of Union City, Tennessee, born October 10, 1868. He is a son of S. and Fanny (Crooks) Howell, the former a native of Tennessee. He removed to Tennessee while a young man, and there married our subject's mother. While in Tennessee he served as clerk of the court for many years. S. Howell was reared in Tennessee and Louisiana, and received his education in the schools of these States. He was for several years engaged with his uncle in nursery business in Dallas, Texas. In 1887 he took charge of E. H Vordenbaumen's lumber interest at Lafayette, as manager. In the same capacity he came to Opelousas in 1880, and has charge of Mr. Vordenbaumen's interests here.
