BELLEVUE VARIETY HALL ASSOCIATION St. Landry Parish The Bellevue Union church was built by the Bellevue Variety Hall Association.* The purpose of the church was to serve the religious needs of the people in the Bellevue area and also supply basic educational needs for the children. A minister of each Protestant groups (4) represented in the Opelousas area would come one Sunday a month and preach the surmon. Sunday school classes were held every Sunday and a lively picnic was held after classes and service. The original building was two story and the second floor served as a school. The fourth grade was the highest that one person could attend. The land was donated by Addison Dimmick. Here is a copy of the land donation.
