All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Needham Coward to Parish Judge Bond as Constable Recorded 24th June 1836 Know all men by these presents that Needham Coward, Thomas Bilbo and Hardy [Harvey?] Coward of the State of Louisiana & Parish of St. Landry are held and firmly bound unto George King Parish Judge of Said Parish in the sum of five hundred dollars for the true and faithful payment of which to the said George King or to his successors in Office they hereby bind themselves their heirs &c. jointly and severally firmly, by these presents signed with their hands and sealed with their seals at Opelousas this twenty fourth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty six. The conditions of the above obligation is such that Whereas the said Needham Coward has been appointed a Constable in & for the Parish of St. Landry by the Police Jury thereof. Now if the said Coward shall make true & faithful returns according to Law of all such suits orders and process as shall come unto his hands as constable as aforesaid and pay over all sums of money that he may collect to the persons entitled by law to receive the same. And finally shall do and perform all such other duties as may be legally required of Constables then the above obligation to be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
