OGDEN St. Landry parish Original Acts, No. 13026, dated 15 November 1873. Be it known and remembered that on this 15th day of November 1873 before me James. M. Thompson recorder and Ex Officio a Notary Public in and for the parish of St. Landry, State of Louisiana personally came and appeared Joseph Doucet a resident of the parish of St. Landry who declared that whereas being indebted to Mr. John N. Ogden attorney at law in the sum one hundred dollars for professional services already rendered and to be rendered in the case of Louisiana vs. the said Joseph Doucet and for which amount he has agreed and consented to pay him cash and whereas he declared that he did not have the said amount of money therefore he does by these presents give in payment to the said John N. Ogden in lieu of said amount all the interest which he owns in certain cotton on the place of Francois Daigle subrogating the said Ogden to all his right, titles and interest in and so said cotton and in case this cotton should not sell for enough to make up said $100.00 then and in that case he further gives in payment to the said John N. Ogden two certain horses owned by the aid Joseph Doucet in such an amount as may be necessary to make up the deficiet of said amount of $100.00. The condition of this giving in payment is such that the said John N. Ogden should realize more out the property herein given in payment of one hundred dollars then in that case any surplus that there may be shall be returned to the said Joseph Doucet. The said John N. Ogden attorney as aforesaid has by this act full power and authority to take in possession and sell said property in order to realize said amount of $100.00. This done and signed on the day, month and year first above written in the presence of Chas. F. Burr and Jas. J. Thompson competent and attendant witnesses who have signed this act with the said Joseph Doucet and the said John N. Ogden atty as aforesaid who herein accepts this act with all its claims and conditions.
