The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That Whereas the above bound -------John Walker ------ has been appointed Administrator of the succession of the late Jeremiah Walker of said Parish of St. Landry deceased. Now if he the said, John Walker ---------- shall well and faithfully administer the Estate of said deceased --------- render a just account thereof, and pay over the same when thereto lawfully required, and finally shall do and perform all and singular the functions and duties incumbent on him as administrator as aforesaid, according to Law, then the above obligationto b enull and void, otherwise to remain in full force. To all whom it may concern, Be it known, that I George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Judge of the Court of Probates, in and for the aforesaid Parish, have this day the first of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty five by virtue of the powers in me vested by [by] law, appointed and do hereby appoint John Walker of said Parish Administrator of the succession of the late Jeremiah Walker of said Parish decsd. _____________ Hereby vesting him the said John Walker as such Administrator with all the powers and authority contemplated by the Laws of this State, in such case made and provided – the previous requisites of the Law having been complied with. Geo King, Judge of Probate ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 3 State of Louisiana Parish of St. Landry Pursuant to an order of the Probate Court & at the request of the administrator, I George King, Parish Judge and ex-officio auctioneer in and for the aforesaid Parish have this day the seventh of October in the year one thousand and eight hundred and thirty five, proceeded to the residence of Doctor Jean Bte. ---- Isabelle situated in the Bayou Chicot settlement & distant about twenty eight miles from the Court House of said Parish, in order to sell at the public auction all the property belonging to the Estate in community between the widow and heirs of the late Jeremiah Walker deceased, payable as following, to wit, one third of the purchase money in all the month of March in the year 1836. One third in all the month of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven and the remaining third in all the month of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, purchasers to give approved personal security and the slaves to remain specially mortgaged to the said estate until the final payment of the purchase money and the interest which may accrue thereon, it being stipulated and clearly understood that all sums not punctually paid will bear interest at the rate of ten per cent per annum [ ] the time they fall due until the payment thereof. The sale having been advertised according to Law, and the terms & conditions proclaimed aloud to the people attending the same -- we [have] proceed to sell and adjudicate to the last and highest bidding as follows (to wit) First – a negro man named [Feal] aged between thirty five and forty years sold to Jesse Campbell for five hundred and fifty dollars security John T. King, Judge State of Louisiana Parish of St. Landry Pursuant to an order of the Court of Probate, and being [ ] requested by John Walker administrator of the beneficiary estate in Community between the widow and heirs of the late Jeremiah Walker deceased of said Parish, I George King Parish Judge and for the aforesaid Parish have this day the seventh of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty five proceeded to the residence of Doctor Jean Bte. Isabelle situated in the Bayou Chicot settlement distant about twenty eight miles from the Court House of said Parish, in order to make an estimative inventory of the aforesaid estate in community and to that effect have appointed James W. Murdock and John T. Heath Esquires free holding in said Parish as appraisors who having been first duly sworn we have proceededas following(to wit). First – A negro man slave named [Feal] aged between thirty five and forty years appraised at six hundred dollars $600.00 2nd – A negro woman named Abby aged about twenty two years appraised at eight hundred dollars 800.00 3rd – A black mare appraised at sixty dollars 60.00 4th – A young brown horse appraised at sixty dollars 60.00 Amt.
