All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** State of Louisiana Parish of St. Landry Before me Alfred Veagie Pavy a Notary Public for the Parish of St. Landry, duly commissioned and qualified and in the presence of George Pitre, W. E. Neely, Russell Burke, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis, competent witnesses, and all residents of the Parish of St. Landry, Louisiana, personally came and appeared Amelia King, widow of Emmanuel Guillory Sr., who declared unto me, Notary, in the presence of the aforesaid and undersigned witnesses, that she wished to make her last will and testament and she the said Amelia King, testatrix, dictated to me this her last will and testament. In the presence of the aforesaid witnesses, and I Notary received same from her dictation, and wrote down same as it was dictated to me, in the presence of her the said Amelia King, testatrix, and the aforesaid witnesses, in words as follows-to-wit: "I give and bequethe to my daughter-in law, Corinne Guillory, wife of Willie Guillory in full property and ownership the following land and improvements to wit a tract of land at Mallet, in the parish of St. Landry, containing fifteen arpents, more or less, with the residence where I live and all other improvements thereon, bounded northwest by Bayou Mallet and land of Corinne Guillory northeast by R. D. Guillory, southeast by the public road and southwest by Napoleon Guillory. This property is bequeathed to her at my death in full recompense for the care and attention she has bestowed on me during my lifetime and particularly during the past seven years, during which time she has lived with me. This property is left to her in addition to what her husband will receive from my estate as one of my heirs. I consider that the above property is not near worth in money, the value of the care and attention which she has bestowed on me and which she has promised to continue my son, Simon Guillory, testamentary executor, to this my will with seigine and without bond." This last will and testament of Amelia King, widow of Emmanuel Guillory Sr. was dictated by her to me, Notary, in the presence and hearing of the aforesaid and undersigned competent witnesses, and the same was reduced to writing by me Notary, as dictated by said testatrix. I, Notary then read the above will to said testatrix in the presence of the aforesaid witnesses, and the said testatrix declared to me, Notary, and to the aforesaid witnesses, that she was entirely satisfied therewith, and she the said Amelia King, widow of Emmanuel Guillory, testatrix then declared to me Notary in the presence of the aforesaid witnesses that she could not sign her name by reason, and because of her lack of education and also because of poor eyesight and, she thereupon in the presence of me, Notary, and said witnesses signed hereto by making her ordinary mark and the whole was received, dictated, read and signed at one time without interruption and without turning aside to another act. This done, read and signed at my Notarial office in Opelousas, Parish of St. Landry, State of Louisiana on this the twenty-ninth (29th) day of May, A.D. 1931.
