All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Joseph Collins To Valentine Ledee Sale of Land Recorded 7th August 1836 This act of sale made this first day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Joseph Collins of the State of Louisiana and Parish of St. Landry of the one part and Valentine Ledee of the same State & Parish of the other part, Witnesseth--That for & in consideration of the sum of Forty Five dollars, to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Collins has bargained & sold & does by this act grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey, set over and deliver unto the said Ledee a certain tract of land situated in Mallet's Woods in the aforesaid Parish and bounded on the North by lands of the seller on South by lands of Margaret Provost, on the East by [illegible - copy blotted out] West by land of George Simeon, being part of a tract acquired by the seller from the United States, & containing about forty eight superficial arpens--To have and to hold said tract of land with all its privileges and appurtenances to him the said Ledee, free from the lawful claims of all persons whatever. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof, the said parties have signed in presence of Caleb Green Jr. and Benoit Debaillon & Before George King Parish Judge & ex-office [sic] Notary Public in & for the Sd. parish of St. Landry the day and Year above written.
