Daniel to Antoine Dupre Sale of Lot Recorded 28th June 1836 This deed made and entered into this twenty eight day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty six, between John L. Daniel and Antoine Dupre both of the State of Louisiana and Parish of St. Landry. Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the terms hereinafter mentioned that said Daniel has bargained & sold & does by this act grant bargain sell alien convey set over & deliver unto the said Dupre a certain half Lot of Ground in the town of Opelousas, with all the improvements thereon known & described on the plat of said Town as Lot No. 1 in Square No. 14, which western half of said Lot is bounded on the North by Landry Street, on the West by Court Street, on the South by lot No. 4 in Square aforesaid, & on the East by the other half of said lot No. 1 and being the same which the sellor [sic] acquired from Joseph Anselm & which the said Anselm acquired from Benoist Keller. To have and to hold the said lot of Ground with all and singular its buildings and improvements to the said Antoine Dupre his heirs & assigns forever, with guarantee on the part of the seller his heirs &c against the lawful claims of all persons claiming by through or under him. This Sale is made for and in consideration of the price and sum of Two thousand dollars--Twelve hundred of which are payable on the eleventh day of December next (1836) and eight hundred dollars payable on the eleventh day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven--with a mortgage on the premises in favour [sic] of said Daniels until full & effective payment of said sums of money. It is understood that in default of payment of said sums of money at the times when due, they are to bear interest at the rate of ten percent per annum from such time until the full payment thereof. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of Louisiana Code & all subsequent laws relative to mortgages. In testimony of all the said parties have hereunto signed at Opelousas before George King parish Judge & ex-officio Notary Public in & for said Parish of St. Landry, & in presence of Caleb Green Jr. & Benoit Debaillon competent witness the day & Year above written.
