All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Virgil Frozard To Placide & Magdeleine Marks Release of Mortgage Recorded 29 July 1836 Know all men by these presents that Whereas on the nineteen day of March in the Year one thousand eight hundred and thirty five, Virgil Frozard of the State of Louisiana and Parish of St. Landry, bargained and sold to Placide Marks and Magdeline Marks his wife all that certain tract or parcel of land situated on the aforesaid Parish and lying in the Prairie Gros Chevruille adjoining to lands of Michel Mayer, Alex Mayer, Cyprien Lalonde and the domain containing about ninety eight & three quarter arpens for the price and sum of eight hundred dollars, three hundred and fifty of which were paid in hand, & the balance made payable one hundred and fifty dollars in April 1836, and three hundred dollars in the month of April 1837--and whereas the aforesaid sums have been paid to the said Frozard the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged--Now in Consideration of the premises he the said Virgil Frozard has released & does hereby release the mortgage retained on the aforesaid tract of land to secure the payment of the purchase money as fully and entirely as though it had never existed. In Testimony whereof he has hereunto signed by making his ordinary mark not knowing how to write in presence of Caleb Green Jr. and Benoit Debaillon competent Witnesses and before George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Notary Public at Opelousas this twenty ninth day of July in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six.
