Jewell Sale of Land Recorded 4th August 1836 This act of Sale made this fourth day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Francois Gallien & Mary Hayes of the State of Louisian[a] and County of Opelousas of the one part and John McCabe Jewell of the same State and County of Opelousas of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to them cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Gallien & Hays have bargained & sold & do by this act grant bargain sell alien convey set over & deliver unto the said Jewell a certain [Page 38] tract or Parcel of land situated in S. Western District of Louisiana being the West half of the South East quarter of Section No. nineteen in township No. three South of Range No. five East containing Eighty 68/100 acres as per register's certificate No. 1615, also a tract of Land in the aforesaid District being the West half of the South East quarter of section No. Twelve in township No. one North of Range No. five East, containing seventy nine 83/100 acres as per Registers certificate No. 1616. To have and to hold said tracts of land to him the said Jewell his heirs and assigns forever free from the lawful claims of all persons claiming whatsoever. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required to be produced by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof the parties have signed in presence of Christopher Steel & Jn.
