All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Margaret Queen wife of Kephart To Windsor Smith [Sale of land] 13th June 1836 Recorded This deed of sale made this thirteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Margaret Queen wife of Simon Kephart of the State of Louisiana & Parish of St. Landry, hereby acting by and with the advice & consent of her said husband, of the one part--and Windsor Smith of the Same State & parish of the other part Witnesseth--That for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred dollars cash in hand paid the receipt whereof whereby acknowledged the said Margaret Queen has bargained and sold & does by this act grant bargain sell alien convey set over and deliver unto him the said Windsor Smith, a certain half lot of ground in the town of Washington, being the Westerly half of Lot No. 17 this day acquired by the vendor from Antoine Curvel, by act of Sale passed before George King Parish Judge of said parish--Said half Lot of Ground being bounded on the North by land of Matilda Goodrich, on the West by land of John Crawford on the South by land of John Caswell and on the East by land of the vendor--To have and to hold the said lot of Ground to him the said Winsor Smith, his heirs & assigns forever and the said Margaret Queen for herself her heirs &c. the title to the said land with all & singular its privileges & appurtenances free from the lawful claims of all persons whatever does hereby warrant & will forever defend. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code--In testimony all of which the said parties have hereunto signed at Opelousas in presence of Caleb Green Jr. & Benoit Debaillon competen[t] witnesses and before George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Notary Public in & for said Parish of St. Landry the day and above written--The said Simon Kephart has also signed as approve this act of his said wife Margaret Queen--S.
