Jewell Sale of Land Recorded 6th August 1836 This act of sale made this sixth day of Augst One thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Dennis Quibedeau and Nicholas Quibedeau of the State of Louisiana and County of Opelousas of the one part and John M. Cabe Jewell of the same State & County of Opelousas of the other part witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of four hundred dollars Cash in hand paid the receipt whereof if hereby acknowledge, the said Denis & Nicholas have bargained and sold and do by this act grant bargain sell alien set over and deliver unto the said Jewell a certain tract of land being the North East quarter of Section No. Thirty in the township No. Three South of Range No. Five East of the S. W. District of Louisiana & containing One hundred & sixty 86/100 acres as per Registers Certificate No. 1484--and being the same tract heretofore transfered [sic] to said Jewell by said Quebedeaus. To have & to hold Sd. tract of land to him the said Jewell his heirs & assigns free from the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever--The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof the Sd. parties have hereunto signed in presence of Christopher Steel & Jean B. Young Jr. and before George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Notary Public in & for the Parish of St. Landry the day and Year above written.
