All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Charles Simon pere & Onezime Meaux to Bennett Barton Simms Sale of Land Recorded 7th August 1836 This act of sale passed this Seventh day of August One thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Charles Simon pere & Onezime Meaux both of the State of Louisiana and County of Attakapas of the one part and Bennett Barton Simms of the same State & County of Opelousas of the other part Witnesseth that, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars Cash to them paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged they the said Simon pere & Meaux have bargained & sold and do by this act grant, bargain, sell, alien Convey Set over & deliver unto the said Simms a certain tract of land being the East half of the North West quarter of section No. Two & the west half of North East quarter of Section No. Eleven in township No. One North of Range No. five East, in the South Western land District of the State of Louisiana, and Containing one hundred & fifty nine 86/100 Acres more or less, being situated in the Parish of Avoyelles on the waters of the bayou Des Glaze. The same purchased by us of the United States as per Register's Certificate No. 1521. To have and to hold said tract of land to him the Said Simms his heirs and assigns forever with guarantee of title against the lawful Claims of all persons Whatsoever. The purchaser dispenses with the Certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof the said parties have hereunto signed in the presence of Christopher Steel and John B. Young Jr. Competent witnesses & before me George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Notary Public in and for the said Parish of St. Landry, the day and Year above written.
