Taylor Sale of Land Recorded 6 August 1836 This act of sale made this Sixth day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Stering Spell & Benjamin Wede of the State of Louisiana and Parish of Lafayette of the one part and John J. Taylor of the same State and Parish of St. Landry of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars Cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Spell & Wede have bargained and sold & do by this act grant bargain sell alien set over and deliver unto the said Taylor a certain tract of land being the south west quarter of section No. Thirty four in Township No., four South, of Range No. five East, containing One hundred & sixty 86/100 acres, as per Register's certificate No. 1068 being the same tract of land heretofore transfered [sic] to the said Taylor by the said vendors, To have and to hold the said tract of land to him the said Taylor his heirs & assigns free from the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. The purchaser dispenses with the Certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof the said parties have hereunto signed in presence of Christopher Steel & Jean Bt. Young Jr., and before George King Parish Judge and ex-officio Notary Public in & for the Parish of St. Landry aforesaid the day and Year above written.
