Overton Sale of Land Recorded 6th August 1836 This act of Sale made this Sixth day of August One thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Thomas Stouts and Francois Breaux of the County of Attakapas of the one part and John H. Overton of the same State and Parish of the other part Witnesseth That for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred and twenty five dollars Cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Stouts & Breaux have bargained & sold & do by this act grant, bargain sell alien Convey set over and deliver unto the said Overton a certain [tract] of land being the East half of the North West quarter of Section number Eleven in Township No. One North of Range No. five East situated in the South Western land District of Louisiana & containing seventy nine acres ore or less being situated in the Parish of Avoyelles on the waters of the bayou Des Glaze, said land being the same acquired by us from the United States by private purchase as per Register's Certificate No. 1688 dated 18th June 1836. To have and to hold the said land to him the said Overton his heirs & assigns, free from the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code. In testimony whereof the said parties have hereunto signed in presence of Christopher Steel & John Bt. Young and before George King Parish Judge & ex-officio Notary Public in & for the Parish of St. Landry the day & Year above written.
