Jewell Sale of Land Recorded 5th August 1836 This act of Sale made this fifth day of August One thousand eight hundred and thirty six between John Webb & James Miers of the State of Louisiana & county of [blank] of the one part & John McCabe Jewell of the same State and County of Opelousas of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars Cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Webb & Meirs have bargained & sold and do by this act grant bargain sell alien convey set over and deliver unto the said Jewell a certain tract of land situated in the S. W. district of Louisiana & being the South East quarter of Section No. 7 in township No. one South of Range No. Six East & containing one hundred and sixty 32/100 acres as per Register Certificate No. 1659, it being the same tract heretofore transfered [sic] to said Jewell by the said Webb & Meirs. To have & to hold Sd. tract of land to the said Jewell his heirs & assigns free from the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. The purchaser dispenses with the certificate required by the 3328th Article of the Louisiana Code.
