Tuesday night Oct. 16, ata wedding about four miles west of Opelousas a shooting 
affair took place which resulted in the killing of one man and the wounding of 
two others. Ben Bertrand became involved in a difficulty with another man, when 
Angelas Landry interfered. Bertrand shot Landry in the wright (sic) wrist and 
ankle. Landry in turn shot Bertrand in the left side, near the heart, and he 
(Bertrand) died from the effects of the wound. Another man by the name of 
Castille was wounded in the shoulder.
