The public are hereby informed that there will be sold, at public sale, to the last and highest bidder, by a competent officer, at the residence of John Close, in this parish, On Tuesday, the 29th March 1853, all the property hereinafter described, belonging to the Estate in community between John Close and his children, the issue of his marriage with Euphrosine Barre, his deceased wife, to wit: A tract of Wood Land, situated on the Bayou Courtableau, in the Parish of St. Landry aforesaid, measuring 4 arpents front on said Bayou, by forty arpents in depth, bounded on the North by land of Honore Dejean, on the South by the Tract hereafter described, on the East by land of Public Domain, and West by said Honore Dejean and said Bayou Courtableau. ANOTHER TRACT OF WOOD LAND, adjoining the former, containing four arpents front, by forty arpents in depth, bounded on the North by the lot above described, on the South by lands of Zephirin Close, on the East by lands of said Zephirin Close and Public Domain, and West by lot aforesaid and the Bayou Courtableau. A TRACT OF LAND, situated on said Bayou Courtableau, in said Parish of St. Landry, measuring four arpents front by forty arpents indepth, bounded on the North by Zephirin Close, on the South by lands of Estate of Valentine King, on the East by said lands of Estate Valentine King, and West by said Bayou Courtableau and Zephirin Close, (the improvements thereon being excepted.) THE ONE HALF OF THE Vacherie Tract situated on the Bayou Teche, in the aforesaid parish of St. Landry, measuring six arpents front on said Bayou, by sixty-five arpents in depth, bounded on the North by lands of John Roy, on the South by the Tract hereafter described, on the East by lands of the heirs of Barre, and West by said Bayou Teche, (the improvements thereon being excepted.) THE OTHER ONE HALF OF SAID VACHERIE TRACT, joining the above, measuring also six arpents front by sixty-five arpents in depth, bounded on the North by tract above described, South by lands of Alexander Castille, and West by said Bayou Teche, (the improvements thereon being excepted.) THE PLANTATION, known as John Close's, situated on Bayou Teche, in said Parish, measuring fourteen arpents front on said Bayou, by forty arpents in depth, bounded North by the lands of Francois Raviol, South by lands of Widow Gradenigo, East by lands of said Raviol and Public Domain, and West by said Bayou Teche, together with the BUILDINGS AND Improvements thereon. THE UNDIVIDED LOT OF GROUND, situated in the town of Opelousas, fronting on _____ street, bounded on the North by lot of John McDonald, on the South by lot of ________, on the West by said _____ street, and on the East by lot of _______, together with all the BUILDINGS AND Improvements thereon. 39 SLAVES, of both sexes & different ages. Five Horses, one Mule, 1 Mare, one Colt, one Stallion, one Ox Cart, one Beef, one lot of Ploughs, 2 teeth harrows, four stocks of Fodder, one lot of corn, one clock, 2 bedsteads and beddings, four table, two cherry presses, half a dozen chairs, one lot of silver spoons, one lot of Vacherie Cattle, with the brand figured thus C, one lot of iron for a flatboat. THE UNDIVIDED HALF OF A Tract of Land, or Cypress Swamp, situated in said parish of St. Landry, and lying on Bayou Courtableau, measuring twenty arpents front on said Bayou, by forty arpents in depth, bounded North by said Bayou Courtableau, South by Public Lands, East by lands of Ulger Roy, and West by lands of Johathan Harris, together with the undivided half of the Buildings and Improvements thereon, comprising a STEAM SAW-MILL and Apparatus. THE UNDIVIDED HALF OF A NEGRO-MAN, named Louis, aged about 50 years. THE UNDIVIDED HALF OF A Lot of Lumber, at the Saw-Mill, supposed to contain about thirty thousand feet. THE UNDIVIDED HALF OF A Lot of Lumber, lying at Barre's Landing, supposed to contain about one hundred and twenty thousand feet. THE UNDIVIDED HALF OF A Lot of Cypress Logs. The undivided half of a Flat-Boat called "Teche"; of a pair of Timber Wheels, of an Ox Cart, of 3 yokes of oxen and of one chain for Timber Wheels.
