Tuesday, Dec. 25 To-day is a very quiet one. The Methodist Quarterly Conference convenes at this place on the 29. The country is sadly in need of increased facilities in the transmission of mail matter. Mail started from this office is three days in transit to Opelousas. This evening, as Mr. William Foreman and wife and little son Henry were on their way home, the horse became frightened and ran away, upsetting the hack, from which all three sustained slight injuries. A few minutes after Jack Walker's horse and buggy came up, driven by his daughter, and upon seeing the wreck also became frightened, and the scene of a while ago would have been repeated had it not been for the gallantry of Mr. Henry Erlich in stopping the horse. Vortex. Additional Comments: William G. Foreman and wife Jane Wolff Foreman and son Henry E. Foreman, all of Bayou Chicot, St. Landry Parish, LA. Henry E. Foreman married Kate Irene Walker, daughter of Andrew Jackson Walker, Sr. and Caroline Elmira Helmer Walker. The "Jack Walker" mentioned is Andrew Jackson, Sr. and the daughter driving his buggy may have been Ola Mae or Kate Irene (10 yrs. old).
