The Opelousas Courier (Opelousas, La.) December 26, 1863, Page 1 November 5, 1864
A painful affair took place at Barry's Landing on Friday of last week. In a 
difficulty between Mr. Charles Close and Mr Octave Dejean, the latter was shot 
by the former, and died in a few moments.

Not knowing the particulars of the case, we make no comments.
