Laurent Meaux, a deputy sheriff of St. Landry parish, a most worthy and highly 
esteemed citizen, was accidentally shot and killed while hunting near 
Palmetto, in that parish. He was 41 years of age, and moved to St. Landry 
several years ago from Abbeville, where his parents now reside.
