When about to go home, he went to get his horse hitched near by, while some one waited to hand him some bundles. As he did not return, the person waiting went after him, and found him lying near his horse, complaining of severe pain in his abdomen. He was taken on a man's back to a neighbor's, and had warm bricks and bottles applied to him. He still complained of severe pain in the abdomen, and drank a toddy for relief; he died almost instantly. It is supposed that his horse kicked him.
