The nine-year old daughter of Walter Hazleton, a thrifty farmer living on Bayou Cocodrie, in the Chicot country, was drowned in Bayou Cocodrie last Saturday evening, at about one o'clock. In company with another young girl she was fishing in the Cocodrie, near the new station - St. Landry - when her hook became entangled in the brush near the bank of the stream. She attempted to catch it, and fell in, her body being recovered an hour afterward. Her companion gave the alarm promptly, and divers immediately went into the water where she had fallen in, but her body had floated with the current some forty feet.
