Louisiana Capitolian (Baton Rouge, La.) March 1, 1881
Opelousas Democrat: John Sonnier who was convicted at the last term of court, 
for the murder of Andre Prud'homme some ten years ago, and sentenced to the 
penitentiary for life, having failed to obtain a new trial from the Supreme 
Court, was turned over to the penitentiary convict camp near Washington this 
week.
