(Opelousas, La.) 1878-1894, August 12, 1882, Image 5 August 12, 1882 A BRAVE WOMAN. - On the 31st of July, Mrs. Griffith Thompson, living near Bayou Chicot, observing a commotion among the cattle near the house, went to see what the matter was, when a full grown wild cat leaped upon her and fastened his teeth in her left arm. She immediately grasped the savage creature by the throat with the right hand, and calling for assistance in vain, held the cat's throat while it was biting and scratching her, until she choaked (sic) it to death. It never relaxed its hold until dead. The lady was somewhat injured, but we are glad to know, not seriously. She is certainly a plucky woman.
